Thank you, Gallus Mag, for this very important work. It is a vital step forward.
Reddit tells us quite openly that the reason they have banned this one part of their site is to be sure that all the rest of the pornography there is safe. It’s all good–including rape–as long as all the victims depicted are 18. The day before that birthday–no no no. The day after–oh, yes, yes, yes.
Why? Why does this ‘slippery slope’ come to a sudden stop on that day?
The answer seems to be something like, “Because. We all know it’s wrong to do this to children. But not to anyone else.”
Of course, most of the “anyone else” are women. Who, once they turn 18, have complete and total agency, complete and total freedom. Complete and total equality with men. And these acts are only words. Just pictures. Harmless. Even GOOD for us.
If you can stand it, have a brief look at what “Rape” on Reddit actually looks like. It is not merely words, or just pictures, and it is not harmless. It is rape. It IS rape. And Reddit is MAINSTREAM.
Thank you for this victory. It is a great beginning. We have such a long way to go.

Kitty I think it comes down to “is this going to hurt us if we leave these sites up? Is it a legal threat to us?” That’s all that matters to Reddit Inc. Because ethics, morality, and just plain decency do not. They would openly rape children too, if there was not law against it. I think law is the only recourse women have.

This is a big win but there is still some SICK shit on that site.
Me? I’m boycotting them until I hear that they have learned that rape and battering women is neither entertaining nor “free speech”.
