I am really getting old, initially I thought “The Manson Girls” was a spoof – the pornie poses, calling them girls. Sadly it is real. I wonder how Charlie-the-Sane will feel about not being the centre of focus? I wonder if the film is setting this up with the women-are-evil theme? Not excusing their actions, but I doubt they would have gone on such a spree without Charlie brainwashing them.

The Dove Evolution is certainly one hell of a photoshop transformation:

I don’t know anything about that Manson movie, but if you tube comments are any kind of measurement, rumor has it the director “hates men” and so made a movie that is “biased” towards the girls.

It kind of made me laugh because “hates men” is an accusation that’s always in such an odd context. You’ll be talking about a serial killer or some horrendous rapist and half a dozen people will feel it’s necessary to defend the entire male gender. It’s so irrational! Even Charles Manson, really? He gets an army of gender defenders?! Meanwhile people seem concerned that the girl’s might be portrayed in a biased way (read unbiased way) rather than as the root of all evil, properly sexualized of course.

    • GallusMag Says:

It will be interesting to see how they spin it. They’re using mostly very modelly (is that a word) type women, tho I suppose they’ll play that down in the film? Or maybe they won’t!

Biased towards the girls- that’s so funny! Well Manson never killed any of the Tate-LaBiancas. Ted and “the girls” did.

  3. GallusMag Says:

I found it incredibly disingenuous when filmmaker Susanna Lo said the murderers wouldn’t “be glamorized”. The very act of putting them on the silver screen glamorizes them. Not to mention selecting so many glamourous young actors to portray them. They are glamorizing the HELL out of the “Manson Girls”.
Maybe they couldn’t find more young female character actors? Maybe there aren’t any?
Should be interesting to see how it turns out. For such a low profile filmmaker she sure is getting some heavy talent- even the Doobie Brothers are doing the soundtrack. And yes, “the girls” do perform songs in the film.
    Not glamorizing my ass.

  4. GallusMag Says:

The nearly all-female cast is interesting.

  5. GallusMag Says:

The actor Taryn Manning who plays Sandra Goode is on the cover of Playboy. I’m sure they needed actors who were willing to perform nudity. Another interesting choice is that the film ends before the murders. Strange.
Anyway should be interesting. Starts shooting in April and should be out end of year.

  6. FAB Libber Says:

At the end of the day, there are not many women who go on killing rampages, or serial killing, or any other kind of major crime without some dude being involved.
The focus always goes onto the “evil women” and frequently the dude gets “forgotten”.
I wonder if, in 50 years time, whether or not crazy-charlie’s part in the whole thing will just become some kind of footnote? Don’t laugh, it happens.
Name the male dude partner of Myra Hindley…

    • GallusMag Says:

That is a very good point- the rarity of rampaging female murderers. And I don’t think there has ever been a female serial killer, certainly not a necro-sexual predator. Male black widow fantasies notwithstanding.

      • GallusMag Says:

Unless you count M2T murderers as “female”, lol, then there are plenty.

      • FAB Libber Says:

It happens, but so incredibly rarely, they would be far less than 1% of serial/mass murderers at a guess. I am talking about women solo, no males involved.
Generally any multiple murders are via poisoning, generally not hacking people to bits or raping them or their corpses or anything. The above is a bit of an exception, however, there were still dudes involved, so does not count as solo-female murders.

  7. Sargasso Sea Says:

“I’m sure they needed actors who were willing to perform nudity.”

If you are female actor you are *willing* to perform breast nudity. It’s an unwritten requirement. Every single gig I worked (and this was back in the early 90s even) there was at least one woman who had to take it off.

As an example: an NBC half hour sitcom required one actress to shoot a scene topless even though she could have been easily shot from a tube-top up. This poor woman was scared to death and didn’t want to do it but they sure as hell coerced her into it. I tried to talk them out of it along side her but they (3 men) took her away to a private room for about 20 minutes or so and out she came, topless and broken.

    • FAB Libber Says:

but they (3 men) took her away to a private room for about 20 minutes or so and out she came, topless and broken.

That poor YW, I could not stop thinking about this after I read it. The fact that there were 3 men, how is that not bullying? You know exactly what her choices were in that room “go topless, or you are off the shoot”.

It is probably a similar “choice” that most YW in porn are faced with “do ATM, or you are off the picture”. The mozzers would have us believe these YW do the choosy-choice thing, and do everything on camera without any coercion. Bullshit.

    • GallusMag Says:

And the fucked up thing is that males have pornified female chests to begin with. I can’t tell you how many F2T have had their breasts cut off and thrown in a trash bin, resulting in interrupted lymph flow to their axillary nodes, nerve damage, and chronic pain ( https://gendertrender.wordpress.com/2010/12/23/ftm-female-body-partsnot-disposable/ ) just so they can feel the sun and the breeze on their chest on the beach without being pornified.

  8. pmsrhino Says:

The Manson girls coverage reminds me of Lizzie Borden. Ever notice, if you spend anytime watching any TV documentaries, how male serial killers get shoved about 5 to a show, but Lizzie Borden will get an entire ridiculous episode dedicated to just her (she wasn’t even a serial killer)? And how there really aren’t any other shows about female killers, just shows about Lizzie Borden? I was joking with my mom about it the other day because she had the TV playing and another Lizzie Borden special was playing. Men serial killers are a dime a dozen, but when a woman kills (and it seems random) that is just CRAZY sauce. And because it’s a female killer they gotta spice it up. The narrator and investigators will just wax poetic about how Lizzie probably killed everyone while naked. Or they will go on and on about how truly vicious and cruel her crime was, like it was somehow worse than any other murder ever committed.

The Lizzie Borden case is so old and yet these shows talk about the case like it happened yesterday. And it’s really because female killers are that rare. Or at least female killers that don’t have a reason like rape or abuse for their killings. Because heaven forbid someone have a show about, say, Aileen Wuornos, where they may actually have to touch upon how prostitution and rape is actually, I dunno, HARMFUL to women. Or how it’s basically MEN who turn women into killers.

Nope. Don’t look behind the curtain! Look over there! Lizzie Borden! Women be crazy, y’all! Can snap at any moment for no reason! So watch yourself! D:

The Manson Girls movie looks interesting, but I am a bit cautious about how the women will be portrayed (or if the movie will just be ridiculously sexed up). Mostly because I’ve never seen a decent portrayal of female killers. Most female killers, from what I’ve seen/read, have so many layers and reasons behind their murders. Am I the only one who kinda sees it that way? I used to be really fascinated by serial killers when I was in high school (during my I wanna be an FBI agent phase), so perhaps I just have a really different take on them. Female serial killers were so rare and the ones that were caught were just far more interesting and complex than any of the hundreds of male serial killers.

Of course now I fear I have come off as some sort of creepy serial killer aficionado, lol.😛

    • GallusMag Says:

lol so true about Lizzy Borden- still popular after all these years. Prob the ones who can not speak for themselves are most popular. Nothing interrupts a thrilling meme quicker than depressing reality.

As for Susanna Lo’s Manson film, it will definitely be “all sexed up”. As for what the “message” will be, who the fuck knows. I think it’s a law somewhere that says every film about female murderers has a “killer lesbian” theme (Heavenly Creatures, Monster, etc), so there will prob be some pornified “girl on girl action”.

      • pmsrhino Says:

*shakes fist at reality* Damn you, reality! D:

      • Canadian Says:

Reminds me of Aileen Wuornos too.
3 documentries(that I know of) and one feature movie where Charlize Theron won an oscar for playing a psychotic man hating murdering lesbian (like that has never been depicted in hollywood before!)

  9. Noanodyne Says:

The making of this movie just screams out how much our society hates women.

98% of all Hollywood movies made are about men’s and boy’s lives. Action, drama, comedy, you name it, it has a boy or man in the center of it. Even a movie with a major role for a woman is really about a man and what she can do for him (e.g., Blind Side). When they do make a movie about a woman (e.g., Secretariat), they do nothing to promote it so it disappears as fast as it opens and no one ever knows about it. 99.9% of all Hollywood movies are directed by men. And when one single solitary woman does get to direct a major movie, she makes it about men (e.g., Hurt Locker) and when she wins the best director award, another woman (Sigourney Weaver) says she won it because she’s a woman. And when a dyke gets the chance to make a major Hollywood film, she makes sure to have one of her lesbian protagonists fuck a man, thus making the movie all about him, not about the lesbian relationship (which is just a backdrop for the story of the man in everyone’s lives, naturally, thanks you piece of shit Cholodenko). Then she complains about the sexism in the industry for why she didn’t get nominated for best director when that movie gets nominated for other awards. Gee, ya think? And you helped that situation how?

In the fetid swamp of that reality, a female director takes the job to make a movie about women who took part in grotesque, heartless, and mindless acts of violence against other women. There is no chance in hell that this will turn out well for any of the women involved or depicted. The director is a hack who has a handful of crap television crime drama writing and directing credits behind her. She didn’t get the job because she can handle something this disturbing or has solid experience working with such a subject or with up-and-coming young actors. If the producers wanted someone like that and actually gave a shit that a female director did the work and had the chance to succeed (and cared about the movie that could have gotten made) they would have hired Bigelow.

This is purely about taking the horror-hate genre into the mainstream via true-crime titillation and starlet power. The producers don’t care whether this director is up to this, or are any of the stars, they get to degrade women at every turn, and if it fails except for all those rentals on Netflix, they’ll still win when they get to throw her under that bus and her perky starlets down there with her. If any those women have any humanity at all, this will fuck them up royally. And what will it do to their careers? Who knows. I know women who love all those horror-hate movies. They don’t seem to get that it’s hatred of them made for laughs and profit. This movie just takes it to a whole new level.

    • GallusMag Says:

      Damn Noan, great comment.
I think you are probably right that “this won’t turn out well”, but of course I will wait and see. I will have to google and see who is producing. Also, Lo is directing because she wrote the script, so it’s her baby, not work for hire.

Am I wrong in thinking that ending the film the night before the murders is a form of whitewashing? I mean MY GOD the horrific gory sadistic violence inflicted on their victims- shouldn’t those FACTS be uh… MENTIONED in a goddamn BIO-PIC ????? The acts those women committed – the torture and cruelty. How can they be edited from a bio-pic? It does not bode well.

      SO FUCKING TRUE !!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • GallusMag Says:

Hey Noan at least we have Jodie out there doing good work with Mel Gibson. (snicker)

  10. yttik Says:

This is completely off topic, but women need all the laughs they can get. Kirstie Alley was on DWTS and did very well, but George Lopez felt the need to make misogynistic fat jokes. He has since apologized but Kirstie is having none of it. His wife donated her kidney to him…right before he left her. So Kirstie says, “I don’t need or want ur apology…I want your kidney dude .. on behalf of ur X and all the women uv insulted…give it back,”

  11. Sargasso Sea Says:

Who knew Noanodyne had some serious feminist film smackdown in her pocket?!?

    Love.

Also, George Lopez can kiss it.

    • Noanodyne Says:

Thanks, s4, I could rant about H’wood’s treatment of women all. day. long.

At least as much as any other industry, it has kept women under the boot of the Pat. As some wag on another blog put it, H’wood is the propaganda arm of the Pat. It helps define and enforce and reinforce the Global Accords Regarding the Fair Use of Women as well as Beauty 2K Compliance. It’s why we have fun feminism in the first place, and creeping pornstitution of every square inch of our lives, plus stories that create acceptance for the idea that men make absolutely wonderful women (better than the originals!) And we don’t have a chance in hell at revolution as long as it holds sway.

      See? Rant, rant, rant.

  12. GallusMag Says:

The young women in the Manson Clan were SLAVES to the males. They were not allowed to SPEAK. They were really like the FLDS women. With more acid and group sex. They were lower than dogs. Let’s face it, cults have never worked out well for women.

    • FAB Libber Says:

Well, let’s hope this film exposes the cult aspect, and how women were used within it.

      Jim Jones was another one.
