Christopher “Jessica” Hambrook, serial rapist, sexually assaulted and terrorized women after being placed in Toronto area Women’s Shelters

Hambrook’s fate will be decided by a judge next week as the court determines whether “she” will be deemed a chronic dangerous offender, a designation which will allow “her” to be incarcerated indefinitely.

Meanwhile, transgender activists held a public protest today in Toronto demanding that individuals like Hambrook be incarcerated with women in female facilities on the basis that they believe themselves to be “psychologically female”.

Two months ago, Canadian transgender activists protested a memorial for murdered women because Vancouver Rape Relief, which organized the event, maintains a domestic violence and rape counseling service for women that does not place female victims with males.

A senior citizen confronted with a “trans woman” in a Toronto YMCA women’s locker room who forced her to view his erect penis, and asked her “do you come here often?”- was recently told by authorities that males have an “absolute” legal right to placement in public areas traditionally sex-segregated for female safety, under new legal “Gender Identity” statutes, which override former sex-based protections for women and girls.

The elimination of women-only services and spaces where women are particularly vulnerable, such as homeless shelters, prisons, hospital bed assignment, areas of public nudity (such as locker rooms), is the primary goal of the transgender political rights movement. Also included are women’s sports, women’s colleges, women’s conferences, private women-only music festivals, lesbian events, etc.

From the Toronto Sun:

TORONTO – A convicted sexual predator who falsely claimed to be transgender and preyed on women at two Toronto shelters could be declared a dangerous offender this month.

Christopher Hambrook — who claimed to be a transgender woman named Jessica — has attacked four vulnerable females between the ages of five and 53 in Montreal and Toronto over the past 12 years.

Justice John McMahon will decide Feb. 26 whether to declare Hambrook a dangerous offender, which carries an indefinite prison sentence.

The prosecution is asserting Hambrook, a former stripper and escort from Quebec, simply cannot control his deviant sexual urges and that locking him up indefinitely is the best way to protect the public.

Hambrook, 37, pleaded guilty in February 2013 to two counts of sexual assault and one count of criminal harassment involving two women — a deaf and homeless Quebec woman and a Toronto survivor of domestic violence — while he was living at a Dundas St. W. shelter and the Fred Victor women’s shelter in January and February 2012.

All of the victims’ names are covered by a publication ban.

Psychiatric and court records portrayed Hambrook as “hypersexual” and a sexual predator.

He couldn’t control his deviant urges, inside or outside of jail, sharing his sick sexual fantasies and irritating other inmates during a four-year prison sentence served in Quebec and Kingston.

He told grandiose lies, saying he once had a relationship with socialite Paris Hilton, earned $350,000 as an exotic dancer and that his mom died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

A self-described “heart breaker,” Hambrook said he’s had more than 80 male sexual partners in his lifetime, including “johns” in his prostitute days and that other inmates “made advances to him rather than vice-versa,” court heard.

After moving to Toronto in 2009, he boasted that he’d received more than 800 e-mails from old Montreal friends “begging him to come home” for sex and shopping sprees.

His latest crimes revealed a continuing trend of exploiting the vulnerable — this time women living at shelters.

The first victim, a deaf and homeless woman from Quebec, checked into the Fred Victor shelter on Jan. 8, 2012. Hambrook had been staying there as “Jessica” since Dec. 23, 2011. She was soon terrorized by Hambrook’s unwanted advances.

Hambrook wrote notes to the woman in French and learned both were smokers. Then, his notes took a creepy turn.

“He asked her if she preferred men and if she wanted a sex change. She started to feel uncomfortable around ‘Jessica’ and was nervous about her behaviour,” said Crown attorney Danielle Carbonneau, reading an agreed statement of facts when Hambrook entered his guilty plea in February 2013.

Hambrook made several unwanted sexual advances toward the woman over the next two or three days. He tried to isolate her in various rooms and she kept rebuffing him as she felt he was stalking her, court heard.

Hambrook stopped her once, grabbed her hand and placed it on his crotch. She yanked her hand away and said, “No.” Hambrook started talking about her breasts and invited her to touch his “fake breasts (he had none).” She became scared and had trouble sleeping as his room was across the hall.

The next day while she was in the shower, she noticed he was peering through the gap between the door and its frame. Hambrook vanished as soon as he realized she spotted him, court heard.

The second victim sought refuge at a Dundas St. W. shelter on Feb. 11, 2012, after suffering serious domestic abuse, court heard.

She remained there two weeks. Hambrook — who told people he was a transgender woman — was admitted there at the same time and ended up being his victim’s roommate.

Hambrook was sitting on a third-floor balcony, smoking a cigarette, when the victim went outside for a smoke. He invited her to sit beside him. When she did, he placed his hand on the bench so the woman would sit on it. She rose quickly, asking him what he was doing and he replied, “It’s a bum warmer. It’s also a boob warmer.” Troubled by his comments, she went inside.

When the victim found Hambrook was one of her three roommates, she had trouble sleeping. On Feb. 12, she left the shelter, consumed some drugs and returned to sleep.

Early on Feb. 13, she awoke to discover Hambrook standing behind her in his underwear, attempting to sexually assault her.

The victim shouted at him, demanding to know what he was doing. Hambrook “simply covered his face with his hands, said “Oops!” and started giggling, according to Carbonneau.

The woman reported the assault to police and Hambrook has been in custody since. His DNA was found on her nightwear.

Shortly after his mother died in Montreal in February 2002, Hambrook committed the first of his sex crimes by sexually assaulted a family friend’s five-year-old daughter. While on bail waiting for courts to deal with charges laid for that crime, he targeted a 27-year-old mentally challenged woman, by sexually assaulting her in his home and forcing her to smoke a joint.

Hambrook received two years in jail for each of those crimes, for a total of four years.

“He had no empathy, no remorse or understanding of his victims of his offences,” Toronto psychiatrist Dr. Treena Wilkie said in her assessment.

In childhood, Hambrook was diagnosed with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder and never made it through high school.

Wilkie diagnosed him with an anti-social personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, determined he was dependent on alcohol and drugs and had multiple sexual deviancies. He was rated as a high risk to re-offend sexually.

Hambrook was earlier assessed as suffering from bisexual pedophilia and exhibitionism.

He blamed his heavy drug use or his victims for his Montreal crimes. He stated the five-year-oldm victoim’s mother “had the hots for him” but he rejected her. The mom fabricated the crime to spite him, said Hambrook, despite pleading guilty to the crimes.

He asserted the mentally-challenged woman consented to sex.

In his psychiatric assessment, Hambrook provided conflicting information on his gender identity issue. He lied that he had been receiving hormone treatment for many years and lied that he wanted to pursue a sex change. He admitted he only dressed intermittently in women’s clothing and wanted to remain a man and have a relationship with a woman.

Psychiatric reports concluded Hambrook is not transgender.

“Mr. Hambrook’s conduct inflicted severe psychological damage on both victims,” said Carbonneau. “(They) sought refuge at Toronto women’s shelters at difficult times in their lives. They thought that they would be safe there, but instead, they were further victimized by the accused.”

thank you so very much for this story. what a sick bastard…and after the british man tried to claim unfair treatment for being placed in the facility, not really a jail….with men of her own sex?? gh

  2. lin Says:

As soon as I read the headline I knew the first thing they’d say is he’s not really trans. So they can still claim that “true” trans belong in women’s shelters; he’s just not really trans. Sickening. Does someone have to be raped or die before someone puts an end to this madness?

    • Mormo Says:

Exactly my thinking. Where does one draw the distinction? You can’t dilute the meaning of trans into nothingness for the sake of inclusivity and then turn around and tell certain people they aren’t REAL trans because they’re a sex offender. It’s like oh so being a sex predator suddenly invalidates someone’s super special unique identity? but what I don’t understand is that people like what’s-his-face who murdered his wife get full support? Maybe the trans community has a boner for what they perceive to be self-righteous violent anger. Whatever I have no tolerance for people who enact violence or prey on women. This dirtbag can burn in hell.

      • Aurora Says:

There’s actually two ways to identify a transperson, neither of which applies to this guy.

        1. You can legally be diagnosed by a licensed psychiatrist, criteria coming from the DSM.

        2. Get a brain scan and compare it.http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn20032-transsexual-differences-caught-on-brain-scan.html#.VNQMR53F_vY

Seeing as how his psychiatric record was pulled with no mention of Gender Identity Disorder, it could promptly be confirmed he is not trans.

      • GallusMag Says:

You don’t seem to be following the discussion very well sir.

1.)The only criteria needed in Toronto for a male to be legally recognized as a female is his own say-so. Merely questioning his declaration would be considered a human rights violation. There is no medical or otherwise criteria involved. Only a man’s statement of his personal feelings.

2.)There is no diagnostic “brain scan” science for transgenderism. The few studies that indicated any possible (possible, not settled) differences in brains of M2T are those that show similarities with the brains of men with sexual paraphilias, including pedophiles. http://www.annelawrence.com/brain-sex_critique.html

Please catch up on the subject under discussion before commenting. Thanks.

“A convicted sexual predator who falsely claimed to be transgender”

If anyone who claims to be a woman must be accepted as one, then surely it follows that anyone who claims to be trans, must be accepted as such also?

What is it that makes someone ‘not trans’ apart from the trans person themselves changing their mind about it?

Will trans supremacist activists like Zinnia Jones be focussing on the ‘falsely claimed to be transgender’ citation aspect of this story, should it come to their attention, or will they stop making claims like “Transgender women in women’s restrooms: A purely imagined harm”.

Or will the claim narrowly be that this story not relevant to the bathroom issue, because Hambrook committed his crimes in a shelter and not a bathroom?

    • Adrian Says:

In my experience the “trans activists” always run to the “no true Scotsman” defense, exactly as this article does.

Meaning, if someone is a creeper in the women’s room, that means they’re not really trans. If someone does any bad behavior, well, they’re not really trans.

Thing is though, from the POV of the victims, it doesn’t really MATTER if they’re trans or not, because you can’t tell by looking, because trans (as you point out) is strictly a matter of internal identity feels.

So yeah if you have a male saying “I’m trans, really really I am, I’m a woman inside,” then you’re supposed to let him into the women’s space. At that point, if he does a crime, he ends up being a creeper who “wasn’t actually trans,” if he does nothing, then okay he’s trans. But the victim won’t (and shouldn’t!) care about labels. So it’s all just empty rhetoric really.

      • GallusMag Says:

I suggest everyone contact GLAAD and report the misgendering in the Toronto Sun report. Demand action! His self-identity is being disrespected. Laverne Cocks says calling a transwoman a male IS AN ACT OF VIOLENCE. Step up, Laverne! Defend your sister!

      • Jane Says:

It’s always “No true Scotsman” with the third wave. They even claim that men who murder prostitutes aren’t really clients, since a real client would pay up rather than kill them!

      • Mormo Says:

@ GM Oh no I TOTALLY AGREE! So what now they’re policing his identity????? Goodness me!

      • lin Says:

They say his claim is false because he only sometimes dressed in women’s clothes, didn’t want to have surgery and still wanted to have sex with women. Oh, I see. He’s not trans. He’s a gender-fluid lesbian.

      • born free & female Says:

“he only sometimes dressed in women’s clothes, didn’t want to have surgery and still wanted to have sex with women”

        Oh, he’s Avery Edison?

    • morag99 Says:

“If anyone who claims to be a woman must be accepted as one, then surely it follows that anyone who claims to be trans, must be accepted as such also?”

Exactly! It’s crazy-making. When a man claims he is a woman or a trans woman, we are not permitted to reject his claim–at least not without serious repercussions. I mean, we can say it all we want here, on this blog, but not out there.

Those women, in that shelter, those women who had been battered by men, who know first-hand what men can and will do, had NO say in the matter. They were not permitted to exercise their instinct to protect themselves from men in a very intimate environment. Those women were treated like beggars, like dumb objects, who can’t give voice to what they need, in their own space, at a very vulnerable time in their lives: to be far away from potential predators.

“A convicted sexual predator who falsely claimed to be transgender.” This line in the article made me sick. Ooops! He wasn’t a woman after all, but they had no choice to believe him when he said he was. It makes me sick because it was so EASY for this rapist. It has been MADE easy for rapists like him. It makes me sick because, calling a claim of transgenderism “false” is just a way to say that, usually, it’s true–that usually, a man who says that he’s a woman really IS. So we have to, by law, open up those doors and let him right in. And any woman who’s uncomfortable, nervous, or afraid to shower and sleep next to this man claiming to be woman is a bigot, right?

Who gets to decide who is and who isn’t a potential threat? Certainly not the potential targets of that threat. Women. Ordinary women. Only, I suppose, an “expert” can make that decision. That’s another part of this big mess: the tyranny of expertise. The way our instincts, our critical faculties, are short-circuited by the Somebodies who supposedly know so much more than we do, the Somebodies who have the bigger voices, the platform.

Also: Canada is losing its marbles.

      • coelacanth Says:

Canada lost its trans marbles years ago! I’ve lived in Toronto my whole life and am a near 60 year old gay man out since the 70s and watched as this town turned into truly THE most PC Stalinist pro-trans anti-gay and lesbian insanity imaginable. I just commented on your old 2010 post on F2T transmen who claim to be gay and attack any gay man who will not have sex with their vaginas as racist-type bigot Nazis — this belief is part of the Toronto and Canada-wide trans catechism that any member of LBGTQ must sign like an oath or be ostracized as right wing haters. This story of the rapist fake trans is INVISIBLE in the Toronto and Canada queer media (gay and lesbian are old terms and queer is used because it covers trans — so they inform us) has no word on it. Toronto is hosting World Pride in June 2014 and the few murals in the old gay village of gay men were painted over with images of trans people to show that Toronto is a new queer trans positive place and not old fashioned bad gay or lesbian who does not want to fuck trans people. INSANE! INSANE! INSANE! Thank you for existing!!! No other web site or publication dealing with homosexual and lesbian related issues will allow any criticism of anything trans. Toronto is strangled by trans. Older gay men are tolerated while the new queers wait for us to just die off already and the new penis in vagina queers (most of them bi women) can liberate their poor trans brethsistren. Trans are what I call transcoddled (mollycoddling of transness) and treated like baby seals being clubbed by big bad old school gays and lesbians. INSANE!!! When will this Trans Tyranny end!!!

      • JDaniel Says:

Coelacanth has described exactly what the Toronto institutional “queer” scene is like; and I guess it’s much the same throughout Canada. The queer cathechism forbids that you question somebody’s “self-identified jendur identity” under ANY circumstances.

Of course, outside the walls of the 519, the real-life social and sexual world of gay men will never dream of believing something so ludicrous as “my clit is really a penis,” because F2Ts are no threat to us, females know better than to try to push men’s boundaries, and it’s easy to ignore these strange little characters who mostly hang out with lesbians anyway. It makes it impossible for most “progressive” men to understand why it’s a little different for women forced to share space with M2Ts.

Oh well. There are bound to be more and more cases like this. The queer people can’t ignore it forever… and all of us gays and lesbians are going to take the blame. Sigh.

      • morag99 Says:

coelacanth and JDaniel–thank you for the update on Canada losing its marbles. Really. I’m Canadian, but from the West, and though I’m not that old, I do remember when gay men were just gay, and when bi and lesbian women were never “bois” or trans men or whatever. Don’t know how I missed it all unfolding, since the sex-positivity and raunch-culture was in full, destructive swing, and that, I see now, as part-and-parcel of all this “gender fucking.” Also, I studied literature and film for awhile, and so had post-modern theory thrust into my brain, against my will, and thought I was a failure for not getting it. Now I see that that was a sign of my intelligence gasping for air.

Here’s the thing, though: I have a kid, a teenager, and the little girlfriends she played with not so long ago, some of whom I expected to grow up to be lesbians, are now “a-gender,” “bi-gender” or, simply, “boys”. I’ll ask, “was Sally there?” and my daughter will say, “yeah, HE was there.” My daughter says, “mom, I HAVE to use the pronouns they choose, or they’ll be so mad at me.” She ‘s trying to resist, she knows it doesn’t make sense, but she risks loss of friendship if she tries to open up the conversation. Or worse: as with your situation, they may not only reject her friendship, but call her a bigot, right-wing, Nazi-type. I’m so worried for these kids, especially the girls. Many “progressive” high schools in my city now have gender-neutral bathrooms.

“Transcoddled”–I love that! And, “the new penis in vagina queers”–hilarious! But, it’s NOT hilarious, is it, when the gay media are refusing to report and discuss the rape of women enabled by trans politics?

      • Rhonda Says:

coelacanth – I can’t really see why bi women would be encouraging it. In my experience the lesbians in a facebook group I joined, seemed to be more accepting, and less suspicious of the M2T member, than the bi women. I heard fence sitter, tricking lesbians, you name it. The trans got all upset over any little thing, and made every post about her penis and hurt feelings. For example- A photo of shane and jenny from the l word, where the guy dropped his pants, with the caption *when lesbians see a penis* She/he went on and on about this being a “denial of her existence” My point is there were tons of bad things said about bi women, but the M2T was treated like a fragile little flower. From my point of view, I was just there to talk to people like me, instead of the straight people on my facebook, that I can’t really relate to, but the guy with the penis was actually trying to trick lesbians, but didn’t get the insulting remarks. These bi supporters seem crazy to me to support that nonsense. I mean how in the world could they be more suspicious of me, than the dude in the dress? And I’m like if I can’t make fun of a penis on a lesbian page, where then? Crazy.

      • cg Says:

There’s nothing wrong with being bisexual coelacanth. I have noticed how a lot of Trans people are highly misogynistic, homophobic, biphobic, and they hate anyone that’s “cis” or not trans.

    • Pela Abolição dos Gêneros Says:

Yeah, how do these guys differentiate the ‘false transwomen’ from the ‘real transwomen’? So if they rape a five-year-old girl they’re fake, if they have an erection but don’t act on it they’re genuine, is that what these guys are trying to tell us?

If “Psychiatric reports concluded Hambrook is not transgender”, how would people know that? Would the ‘fake transgenders’ be obliged to hang a sign on their necks?

Isn’t the gender apologist protocol to just honor what people tell us they believe they really are inside, whether it’s a transwoman, a 6-year-old little girl, Jesus, or Elvis? Shouldn’t calling Hambrook as a ‘fake transgender woman’ be considered triggering, transphobic hate-mongery?

Lots of questions, only one answer: bullshit. There’s no way to protect females from predators while allowing males with gender identity claims to femininity access to sex-protected facilities.

  4. GallusMag Says:

His claim of being transgender was certainly enough to have him placed among the most vulnerable population of women at the women’s shelters (multiple!).

There is no shortage of male transgenders who are sexual predators against women. Obviously not all. But A LOT:
    http://outofmypantiesnow.wordpress.com/2013/10/28/when-is-90-not-substantially-all/

  5. GallusMag Says:

Transgender males are men. They commit crimes against women at the same (high!) rate as any other men. Even transgender males who are “post-operative”, that is, who have had their gonads removed and penis inverted into a surgical sheath designed for other men to penetrate, have the EXACT SAME rates of criminality as any other male: http://www.plosone.org/article/info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0016885

  6. repowoman Says:

What an outrageous story of what so-called transgenderism can easily hide. The Toronto Star ethics columnist, who dismissed a woman’s complaint about a transgender creature with a penis ogling her in the women’s change room at the YWCA, needs to digest this article (which I will send him).

    • coelacanth Says:

The Toronto Star ethicist rejected the story of the woman being ogled (and the article writer’s mea culpa was transcoddling defined) after a campaign by Toronto’s queer community to silence this story and silence it fast. No word against any trans is allowed anywhere and a huge network of queered people in Toronto work endlessly to police for any negativity towards trans. Daily Xtra just purged a large number of comments because they dared to criticize trans people on a number of issues. Toronto is trans-strangled!

Further items in this weekend’s Canadian papers:
    1) In today’s Globe and Mail in Canada, a columnist, Margaret Wente, questions foisting transgenderism on children: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-debate/transgender-kids-have-we-gone-too-far/article16897043/ Lots of comments.

    2) an article from Saskatoon Star-Phoenix (Saskatchewan, a prairie province) http://www.thestarphoenix.com/news/Transgender+community+seeks+clear+rights/9512393/story.html The person interviewed was recently a “guest speaker” at a Queer Walk at the University of Saskatchewan, where he spoke about how hard it was to be a gay man on the campus in the late ’70s. He then took a turn as a heterosexual man and has two young adults from that phase of his life. He is now “transitioning” but also wants to be very active in the “women’s community” where he presents himself as a “feminist,” clearly aspiring to take a leadership role!

    No end to madness!

  8. rbd Says:

The Globe and Mail, The Star (Toronto Star) amd the CBC, all Toronto based liberal news outlets have not run this story, but you can be they’ve go it. Why are they hiding it?

Only the Sun media has it up. They were first to run the last Toronto transgender story too. When G&M did write that, finally, they had two sob stories done by columnists.

  9. Ashland Avenue Says:

    I am shaking with rage.

And like Lin said, I knew the first thing to come out of the putrid trannies mouths would be “B-b-but he’s not really trans! So you can’t hold that against poor sweet US!” But DOES IT MATTER TO THE VICTIMS?! Something tells me….no.

This is only going to happen more and more.

  10. Jane Says:

I weep for those poor women, experiencing more trauma in a place they expected to be safe.

Meanwhile, transgender activists held a public protest today in Toronto demanding that individuals like Hambrook be incarcerated with women in female facilities on the basis that they believe themselves to be “psychologically female”.

I notice that 438 people said they were going, but it looks like barely 20 could acquire the spoons to show up. That’s pathetic, but I’m glad these loudmouths are intensely lazy and cheap. What I don’t understand is why the media is so eager to cater to them every time they holler on Twitter, because they rarely back up their “online activism” with action.

  11. GallusMag Says:

    http://blogs.montrealgazette.com/2014/02/16/tobys-law-back-to-the-drawing-board/

“Many people are justifiably upset and outraged — or will be when they hear about this — over what Toronto Sun columnist Christina Blizzard is calling “every woman’s worst nightmare” coming true.

According to her Toronto Sun report, under the headline Shocking cases proves ‘Toby’s Law’ is flawed, “(Christopher) Hambrook was not transgender, but used the law to prey on the most vulnerable women in our midst — the homeless, the disabled and people living in shelters.”

Another Toronto Sun report has this: “Christopher Hambrook — who claimed to be a transgender woman named Jessica — has attacked four vulnerable females between the ages of five and 53 in Montreal and Toronto over the past 12 years. Justice John McMahon will decide Feb. 26 whether to declare Hambrook a dangerous offender, which carries an indefinite prison sentence.”

I know many people will point to this as a criminal act and not representative of transgenderism. And, no doubt, they will urge everyone not to succumb to knee-jerk reactions.

But, objectively speaking, if there is a hole in Toby’s Law — according to Christina: “Any man who claims to be a transgender woman (in Ontario) has the legal right to use women-only facilities with impunity” — that makes it easy for sexual predators to attack women, then it must be sealed.

    Christina says this:

This is not about transgender people. Those who can provide a doctor’s note that they’ve had surgery and hormone treatment should certainly be accommodated in female facilities. But, those who haven’t must surely understand the safety of the wider female population trumps their right to change wherever they please. If they’re uncomfortable in a male change room, they can use a private cubicle. Women have a right to protection.

I can’t argue with her on this point.

And as this story gets more play in other mainstream media outlets, fear and outrage will spread. Trans people need to understand that many women are afraid for their safety, and will be more so now.

Personally speaking — and I am entitled to opinions — I have struggled with the idea of allowing pre-op or non-op adult trans people to use women’s facilities, unless they can prove they are gender transitioning through hormones and surgery. Again, personally speaking, I have struggled with the idea of allowing people who do not plan to have aforementioned surgery to officially change their gender designation. And I am just not comfortable with the idea of a weekend crossdresser using the women’s facilities on Saturday and the men’s facilities on Monday.

On the other hand, I do think trans teens in California and other places — kids who are clearly gender transitioning — should be allowed to use the facilities that match their gender identity, with the understanding and medical proof that they are taking hormones and will be having surgery.

I know many disagree with the idea that gender transitioning should involve sexual reassignment surgery. But I feel it should. Which is not to say that “transgender” people can’t live somewhere between the gender binary, as so many do. But maybe we need to set up facilities especially for them, facilities that won’t infringe on the rights of others.

Meanwhile, if society is going to allow people to change gender without fully transitioning, it must also find a way to protect the rights — and safety — of women in vulnerable situations and places like dressing rooms, washrooms and shelters.

Back to the drawing board for Toby’s Law?

    Jillian”

    • coelacanth Says:

Third Sex or Other should join male and female as official sexes. That way trans and intersex and all their others can use Other and leave male and female space as it is. And of course Julia Serano, Butler and others argue that all gay men and lesbians are actually transgendered then we should also use the Other washrooms and so on. Sorry, as a man with a cock I like men with cocks in my washroom and locker room space!

  12. GallusMag Says:

Also don’t forget to read the column linked at the end of this post- someone just sent in a link to the same column (which I accidentally deleted arg!) so it seems that some have missed the link to that important related commentary from Christina Blizzard at the Toronto Sun. Worth a read!

      • Adrian Says:

The comments to these various articles you posted today are quite interesting. In particular, several comments to the Toby’s law article bring up the same talking point that “of course a real trans woman is never going to want to point out the penis or have anyone notice the penis” — ORLY? Because it seems that plenty of M2T, even among those considered representative stars of the movement and most beloved for quotes on the internet and wherever else, have written about how they love their penises – sometimes they give the penises as a cutesy name, but lately it’s all about “I can be a woman with a penis, I don’t have to have physical dysphoria, look at my lady stick, Cotton Ceiling!!!”

      • coelacanth Says:

So many trans say they learned about trans from watching TV. They see a beautiful “woman” who was born a man and become fascinated. While most people see it as delusion, or don’t think of it at all and move on, a certain percentage don’t. How many men and women would not have neutered themselves if they never watched Jerry Springer or Oprah or some PBS documentary.

Every time they trot out some weirdo, whether “adult babies” or “club kids” or plastic surgery addicts, it gives ideas to some small fraction of the viewership. From the innocuous like obsessed coupon clippers to the dangerous like serial killers and school-shooters, they often became what they are because they heard about others doing it. When we hear about other people doing things most people find unacceptable, it gives us permission.

Now as these stories of “not-really-trans” perverted men invading women’s spaces get exposed, it could be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it could lead to these laws and policies being overturned. But given the direction things are headed and the virulence of the opposition, that seems unlikely. Trans activists would probably object to even the requirement of a doctor’s note. They will claim this doesn’t represent the gentle, docile, downtrodden ladyman who will kill himself if you question his womanhood in any way. (I always wonder why the suicide threats are not met with involuntary visits to a mental ward.)

But if the laws and policies don’t change, stories like Christopher/Jessica will only fuel more of the same, because it will only give more and more perverts ideas, and the permission to act on them. If all they have to do is provide a doctor’s note, that is easy enough to do. Are gatekeepers going to follow up and call the doctor, if s/he even exists, and … what? The doctor doesn’t know if the criminal history. Make sure this guy is really on hormones? All the doctor knows is s/he wrote a prescription.

If some guys lie to get a doctor to approve expensive surgery, some other guy will surely lie to approve access to our spaces *without* expensive surgery.

If exposing an erection in a womens locker room is not enough to get your access yanked, how will anyone know when a line has been crossed? One decision to let a guy change in our space could have lifelong consequences. It doesn’t have to be molestation, rape, murder. Say he takes pictures of us naked and posts them online, where photos live forever.

I just read a story that called this “tyranny” and couldn’t help but notice, you can’t spell tyranny without t-r-a-n-n-y.

Seriously asking: what will stop Hambrook from demanding the right to be placed in a women’s prison upon conviction? And what will the response from the trans community be? Won’t they be ideologically bound to support him? And FFS, what is all this about Hambrook not really being transgender? I keep hearing that nobody has the right to question anyone else’s self-declaration of gender identity. So Hambrook should be no exception. Hambrook is the inevitable result that we have been scolded not to worry about. I’m almost looking forward to his demand to be placed in a woman’s prison. But that’s because I still believe that sensible policy will eventually prevail once people see men like him clamoring to be placed into women’s facilities. Forget about the men that really have gender dysphoria! They’re a drop in the bucket compared to the pool of average, everyday rapists who will soon be learning the magic phrase: “I’m a woman.”

Also, why is it only the Toronto Sun that’s covering this?

    • Mormo Says:

Because even the slightest wiff of criticism over the concept of gender identity is usually beaten into submission by transactivists crying “hate crime!”. It’s insane! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a group so coddled and protected by the liberal media.
Most of the problem comes from the fact trans have taken over virtually every major organization that was once dedicated to gays rights and are using them to push their own agenda. It’s a bunch of emotionally manipulative bullshit.

Thank god for blogs like these or I think I’d lose my mind!

  15. GallusMag Says:

According to the 2012 Toby’s Law, any Canadian man who claims at the desk to “feel psychologically female” has a legal right to occupy the bed next to abused women in a homeless shelter. It really is that simple. There is no psychiatrist opinion needed, no doctor’s note, no approving authority, no hormonal or surgical history. Nothing. That is how this happened.

  16. DD Says:

This is from the bio of the MP responsible for Toby’s Act:

The equating of Transwomen or men with sexual predators is the same logic that equated homosexuals with pedophiles. Shame on you for allowing this in print.

Trans folk, who have a 50% poverty and 50% attempted suicide rate – the most marginalized of any single group – require human rights protection just as does any other group. Toby’s Law does that and only that.

You have also attacked Toby Dancer, Musical Director of Emmanuel Howard Park United Church, who died a tragic death and inspired this addition to the human rights code.

    So to reiterate:
Those who engage in sexual attacks are not covered by ‘Sexual Preference’ in the Human Rights Code. Lesbians Gays and Bisexuals are. Those who engage in sexual attacks are not protected by Toby’s Law. Trans folk are.

    A retraction is in order.

I think it’s worse. She’s saying that transwomen cannot be rapists and sexual abusers. Quite in contrast to how feminists are always told “Women rape, too!!!!!!”.

    • morag99 Says:

Wow, even Toby Dancer, aka Adrian Chornowol, dead from a drug overdose 10 years ago, has been “attacked.” Poor, confused soul didn’t even know his name would be used to name an Act making women not less vulnerable to male violence, but more so. If he weren’t already dead, surely that article in The Sun would’ve killed him!

In this alternate trans universe, the only people who are NOT attacked are females. The real, physical harm that came to them in a women’s shelter, indisputably due in part to male trans protections, simply does not exist. More harm has been done, apparently, to a man ten years in his grave.

    • Teal Deer Says:

The poor dear’s reading comprehension doesn’t seem quite up to snuff. Mentioning a criminal claimed to be trans is not equating all trans with sexual predators.

It’s cute (not) that we’re supposed to accept as truth anyone’s claim to being trans, even if they claim it some days and don’t others, yet anyone who lives as trans or claims trans is supposed to have “transgender” scrubbed from all mention of them if they commit a crime and hit the news. Those sanitized stories wouldn’t make any sense. Take trans out of this Hambrook story, for instance, and you’re left to wonder why a man was staying in a women’s shelter.

    • Guls Says:

Commented on the FB thread ‘whether Transwomen are women is – at least in some respects – beside the point. Nobody is equating Trans with sexual predator, as was indeed the case regarding historic (and current) anti-gay propaganda. What is being said is that legal accommodations to protect trans* folk from violence are putting the health and safety of females (and children of both sexes) at – further – risk, irrespective of whether any individual trans* person harbours violent intentions. Popular parallels with homophobia and historic black civil rights just don’t stand up here.Segregation didn’t protect women, children or gays and lesbians from male violence; rather it allowed the ruling class to pass the buck onto the working – and otherwise disinfranchised, eg black – class; to the benefit of men as a class. Anti-gay laws likewise: men as a class are elevated by comparison to ‘those nasty, girly gays’. It’s bollocks. ‘Trans*phobia’ is just old wine in a new bottle – you’re being hoodwinked here, and you don’t even get it; or maybe you do… not sure which prospect is scarier…

      • Teal Deer Says:

Excellent! I don’t see what she could possibly say against your points, except for the standard, silencing trans-tropes.

      • river Says:

Thanks Guls. Even if she can’t see logic someone else reading will. I note she uses all the trans tropes: when you have no argument, pull some shibboleth on everyone, poor dead disabled Toby. Sob. (How COULD we?)

  19. GallusMag Says:

Here’s a really, really scary post from a really scary gravely mentally ill man and transgender activist who blogs in support of transgender wire-killer Robert Kosilek. Needless to say he has less than zero empathy for the victims:

“A Single Counterexample Is All It Takes: One Absolute Argument
There’s been an argument used to justify laws facilitating trans women’s access to women’s facilities that I’ve seen since at least 2008 or so that goes like this: Since no cis woman has ever been harmed through misuse of laws facilitating trans women’s access to women’s facilities, then there should not be a problem with such laws. Recently, this argument has been in the news alongside the case of Christopher Hambrook, a cis man who misused laws facilitating trans women’s access to women’s facilities to gain access to victims at a women’s shelter by impersonating a trans woman. To give an idea of this argument’s prominence, Barbara Hall, the Chair of Ontario’s Human Rights Commission, was quoted as saying in a recent article on Toronto Sun:
“We have never seen a documented case of a heterosexual man gaining access to a woman’s change room by posing as transgender. In fact, in washrooms and change rooms, and in society at large, transgender persons are more at risk than anyone else of being harassed, abused, assaulted, or even killed,” Hall said in her letter.
    http://www.torontosun.com/2014/02/15/shocking-case-proves-tobys-law-is-flawed

Granted, she was speaking specifically of washrooms and change rooms, and not shelters, but it’s clear the argument is and has been met to apply to all gender-specific spaces. When I first saw this argument, I thought it was a bit fishy, but I didn’t say anything. Now I wish I had. Here are 3 big problems with this argument:

This argument justifies laws facilitating access on the basis of their never being misused. The argument, as stated, is so rigid in its absolutism that a single counterexample topples it, as the case of Christopher Hambrook just did.

The argument allows to go unchallenged the implicit assumption that rights for trans people are OK just so long as not a single cis person happens to be harmed through impersonation of trans people or otherwise through misuse of laws protecting our rights. Now this implicit assumption is at the forefront, dominating the public conversation. In fact, this implicit assumption has caused harm elsewhere, such as in discussions of access to transition-related care.

The argument implicitly makes a promise we clearly could not keep: That the laws would never be misused to harm cis people.
In my study of lawmaking, it is clear that laws ultimately need to be a balancing act, and should never be made or thrown out in response to isolated incidents. Of course, with the way the media reports things, which puts pressure on lawmakers, this may start to be ignored more. So the job of the trans community and our allies now is to take the initiative. We clearly need to throw this absolute argument out, like yesterday. We need to make a solid case for trans rights that does not depend on promises we cannot keep. I don’t know how to make such an argument, so where I fail I leave to others to figure out.

I welcome comments on where to go from here in making the case for trans rights.

I like how this transgender activist strategically renames. The rapist, a man claiming to be a woman, is now an “impersonator.” His female victims are not women, but “cis people.” As in: “today, an impersonator harmed a cis person.”

It’s good work. An impersonator harming a cis person sounds about as violent as a clown spraying seltzer in some guy’s face. It’s pretty far away from the brutal image of a man gaining access to women-only shelters, legally, via transgender human rights protections, for the express purpose of sexually violating vulnerable women.

      • Teal Deer Says:

Also, four female victims become one “single cis person”.

      • Adrian Says:

Also don’t forget to contrast that with DiNovo’s tweet, where the Sun article is now somehow a “brutal transphobic attack.”

Seriously? They’re going to use “brutal attack” for WORDS? I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised, considering all the tweets that were insisting that Piers Morgan referring to Janet Mock being “born a boy” was similarly “brutal violence.”

Call me sheltered, but when I hear “brutal violence” I’m thinking bloody crime scene, not an argument on the internet.

      • morag99 Says:

Yes, Teal. A “single” cis person and a “single” counter example. As if, in all the world, only once did a man pretend to be a woman in order to rape or assault or harass females.

My god, every single male who gains access to women’s private space is, without exception, an impersonator! Whether he’s operating under a grand delusion that he’s female, or there to choose a victim, or both, each one IS an impersonator. To not know the difference between one kind of impersonator and the next, to have a public discussion about how not knowing the difference puts women at risk, is to attack human rights (men’s rights) and to kill trans women (men).

It is so clear that the raped and traumatized shelter women do not matter. Women are beaten, molested and raped all the time anyway, so what does it matter if men are provided with yet another way to get their hands on female bodies? What’s most important now is enabling the delusions of men who want to impersonate women. They are the “most oppressed and marginalized” group walking the face of the earth. The oppression of born females, on the other hand, is normal. To even question this normal female predicament is to be hysterical, to be “fear-mongering.”

They are the über-men; not even castration can make them less dangerous to female life.

    • anoner55 Says:

This dude needs to stay far away from vulnerable women.

  20. The women living in the shelter who were stalked, sexually assaulted, and emotionally traumatized by the male identifying himself as transgender and calling himself “Jessica” need to sue the organization running the shelter, the province for allowing this to happen, and any other person or party for the suffering they had to endure. Many of these women have PTSD because of past abuse or domestic violence. Now, because of “gender identity” laws, they are traumatized again. Because their civil rights have been violated, they need to file civil rights complaints. Transgender activists have filed civil rights complaints and sued school districts, businesses, and local governments. It’s about time someone stood up for women.

Personally, I think they should sue the province for allowing this to happen. This was essentially state sponsored sexual assault of fragile and vulnerable women housed in women’s shelters. There, I said it. In reality, it was a form of state sanctioned abuse of women. This didn’t happen by accident. We all know it. All we have to do is ask ourselves one question. Why was the male named “Jessica” in the women’s shelter? Who gave “Jessica” permission to be there? If Jessica wasn’t granted state sponsored permission to be in the women’s shelter to begin with, this wouldn’t have happened. Loosely written “gender identity” laws caused this to happen. Flinging open the doors to any male who calls himself Jessica, Susan, or Betty, is a train wreck waiting to happen. Any rational person could have seen this coming a mile away, but we were harangued and browbeat into politically correct silence and submission.

It’s time to sue, and while we are at it, force politicians to change the law. We don’t have to take this any longer. Women have the voting power to make this happen. Only when women finally wake up and realize that they don’t give a rat’s patootie about us, will anything change.

    • Rb D Says:

They are not women who would likely do any of that, having scant idea of how to work those things that middle class women would know or the self-esteem to think they deserve better. If they DID, who would they go to for help to achieve that, those pomo cotton pantie afficionados who run women’s rights organizations in Toronto?

  21. survivorthriver Says:

Are there people who are responsible for putting this man in a women’s facility who should receive punishment?

It’s obvious why trans are fighting their battles in prisons, jails, elementary schools and other venues.

How do four “a cis woman”…victims get somebody’s attention who could do a civil suit for them?

Delusions of men who want to impersonate women hurts. It hurts real women.

Castration does not pluck the hair out of the butter of male power infatuation and addiction.

Uber men? Nein. But, also, not the match for uber women.

    • morag99 Says:

Well, I meant über, in this case, ironically and as an insult. Because it was attached to “men”!

I’ve been thinking about Solanas lately, and how she had this stuff figured out almost 50 years ago. That the “transvestites” of her day were looking to achieve “diffuse sexual feelings” and that even with their dicks “chopped off” they continued to be men. She understood that men becoming women was not only impossible, but that that wasn’t even their goal. Matters were just as bad back then, but, I think, somehow clearer for feminists.

      • morag99 Says:

Here’s the diner scene in I Shot Andy Warhol where Valerie’s lunch companion asks, in a whisper, “what about drag queens?” Her dismissal of men impersonating women is beautiful in its clarity and humour. • rbd Says:

I shouldn’t have said that to a woman. I’m sorry.

Seems to me we have good reasons to be very angry with women who support men at the expense of other women. It’s political and personal. And, for you its especially personal and sensitive, because you understand, first hand, the trauma and desperation of many deaf women.

It’s definitely something to get emotional over, and nothing (in my opinion) to feel sorry about. In fact, I think this discussion thread is a collective “fuck you” to the trans activists who care not an iota for the well-being of women, especially the most vulnerable.

      • Rb D Says:

Yes definitely something to get emotional about, angry, but I wish I hadn’t used that word.

  23. Rhonda Says:

This seems to be the whole point of why they want to be in bathrooms and stuff, from what I can tell. I watched that whole dang transamazon youtube video with the huge man in a dress, and sure enough about 20 minutes into crazytown…He goes into a bathroom pointing out the tampon dispenser. He was accompanied by his equally large friend. I imagined being alone in there when he walked in. I would probably be in jail for a hate crime I guess. 2 men barge into a bathroom on me, I’m going to make a decision. In that small amount of time, it’s not going to be an internal debate about how they “identify”. I have had to go to some creepy rest areas in the middle of the night visiting my home state. (we always go at night to avoid traffic, and my daughter can sleep through it.) I just can’t imagine why he keeps talking about fear in the video, when he would cause a hell of a lot of it, popping into freaking bathrooms with his buddy. This has to be the point to force perverted men on everything. But lets just say a woman raped a woman when it happens, cause women are doing all the rape. ARRR I’ve never in my life worried about being sexually assaulted by a woman. I’m not saying it’s never happened to anyone, but I also don’t know any woman that has ever worried about being sexually assaulted by a woman. If reality makes me “cis sexist” or sexist or phobic or whatever they want to call it, I don’t care. Reality is reality. I know this isn’t the most well written post. When I see things in the news that infuriate me, I spend days reading about it, and everything I’ve found on M2T just pisses me off more. I also watched the DGR video explaining radical feminism, which seemed like common sense to me. That got me wondering why someone would attack them for that.. my conclusion was these M2T are hateful men, and do not want that secret to get out. That’s probably why these emotional stories about children are popping up. “focus on these poor children, instead of the violent men in dresses” Anyone that asks anything is called bigot over and over. They answer people’s questions with “fake ones are caught easily” umm WHAT? Do you identify as female? yes! Seems legit! If I wasn’t broke I would donate money to stop this madness. -sorry if this is hard to read, I have pretty much forgotten how to even spell since the time myspace was popular-😦

    • Lin Says:

What video are you referring to?

    • sxangxulo Says:

Can’t speak to the video, as YouTube is blocked where I am, but a lot of us (M2T) are terrified of women’s restrooms. To be perfectly honest, I’d rather have single-person restrooms and just not have to be near anyone at all while I use the restroom, and always feel uncomfortable when friends drag me off with them.

Any way, if Toby’s law caused this horrific situation, it ought to change. I use to live in Toronto, and still think fondly of it as home, and safety. This story is just awful, and that situation should never have happened. The criticism in here of trans people calling Hambrook fake trans is…well…it’s fair. This is a problem people like me created, and one we need to fix.

I just wanted to add this comment so as to say that, even among the horrible awful bad males like me who pretend to be women, this is abhorrent. If the Ontario government listens to the protestors and puts Hambrook in a women’s detention facility, I can only hope that they get a 2-meter-tall body-builder as a cellmate, to keep Hambrook in check.

  24. Henke Says:

Been reading quite a few comments to this article and also been reading some more about these transgender activists and its really scary what is happening here.
If they manage to make a trans woman, just be reported as woman and trans man to just be reported as man they can render their extreme attacks upon homosexuals (lesbians and gay men are being attacked here and there in the world by transgender activists) invisible as hate crimes.. and it would look like “men fighting men” or “women fighting women”.
Now of course there are mostly males in this movement but the few female followers they have plays their part very well, going on like idiots against gay men for not want to have sex with them.

This must be the most homophobic group of people I’ve ever seen. Its like some twisted form of hyperheterosexuality.
But I understand why they hate homosexual individuals so much, they are living proof that these men & and their female allies are insane rather than anything else. I can’t stop thinking about psychopathy and narcissism centred around sex. They seem to be thinking often about sex.

I really hope there will be a way to expose these men for what they truly are. They are harming women on a massive scale, homosexuals and not to forget actual transsexuals that are struggling to have a voice (and a decent life) in this insane culture.
The only group that seems to be left alone are heterosexual males, ordinary “men”, as long as we don’t side with women or homosexuals or actual transsexuals.

Ugh, This is very troubling times.

    • Lint Says:

      Who are the “actual transsexuals”?

      • Henke Says:

Well, To me the trans movement is made up by two groups. One are those that labels themselves transsexuals (the ones I’m referring too as actual transsexuals) who advocates for trans women (or trans men) but not at the expense of people assigned female/male at birth.
Then you have the transgender group, who believes that the world is circling entirely around them. I have no interest in the latter, because they seem to just “identify” in to gender dysphoria without any particular reason to do so.
And its quite clear, by watching on the web, that this group contains some of the most hate driven males that as walked the face of this earth.
I’ve seen them attack transsexuals, women, organizations they blame are being transphobic, friends to people who are into anything they label transphobic and so on and so forth.
        They are utterly insane.

I have to disagree Henke as I find transgenderism to be inherently harmful to women. There are no “good” transpeople– they are all engaging in a misogynistic, reductive, and ultimately dangerous behavior.

  25. Update on Mr. Christopher, “Jessica”, Hambrook who said he was transgender in order to access women’s shelters.

” TORONTO – A sexual predator who falsely claimed to be transgender and preyed on women at two Toronto shelters was jailed indefinitely on Wednesday.

Justice John McMahon declared Christopher Hambrook — who claimed to be a transgender woman named Jessica — was a dangerous offender”

Why did this happen in the first place? “Jessica” shouldn’t have been allowed to prey on vulnerable women in homeless shelters.

This is not acceptable, and his victims should sue. Transgender activists sue everyone.

As I stated in an earlier post, this was state sanctioned sexual harassment and assault of fragile women. Transgender activists have their lawyers. We need a legal defense organization for women.

    • Lint Says:

How was it determined that Christopher Hambrook “falsely claimed to be transgender”? Is the Toronto Sun pulling that no true Scotsman bullshit that the trans crowd has been playing? Because we all know that the idea of there being a test or standard for determining trans-ness sends the Ts into a tizzy.

And I agree totally that Christopher Hambrook NEVER should have been allowed into a woman’s shelter. Those shelters are for women, not men. Wish someone would file a lawsuit.

Is there a good database being kept of all this? Not just a series of blog entries? Necessary to publize to women, public, law makers how absurd and sexist these policies are.
