  1. GallusMag Says:

Who could argue with this? Don’t hurt the fee-fees! It’s that simple! Love the change in hair and posture too.

    • morag99 Says:

Yeah, the posture. When he becomes a little girl, up go the tense shoulders, and the arms are tucked in close, and defencelessly, behind her back. She looks like she’s ready for the firing squad.

And it all makes her, like, so totally flattered, that she’s literally blushing!

  2. GallusMag Says:

Can you imagine a world in which this sort of messaging worked for women. “What it feels like when I feel unsafe walking to my car at night= unhappy face”

  3. GallusMag Says:

“Don’t make me sad by raping me”.

  4. GallusMag Says:

“It makes me feel icky when you misgender me as subhuman. Don’t make me feel icky! You big silly!”

  5. GallusMag Says:

“When you objectify me it makes me feel yucky!”

  6. hearthrising Says:

I don’t understand the picture in the middle where his head looks like it’s in a television or an ice cube.

  7. Smits Says:

I’m in need of a haircut at the moment so if everyone could refer to me as a dude that should magically sort it out.

  8. soporificat Says:

Gosh, that is one sensitive flower. They are definitely not ready to be a woman in this society, lol! They’re gonna have to toughen up a lot more so they can survive the hits.

  9. One accurate connotation of the “she/her” image is auto-erotic jollies.

  10. morag99 Says:

Funny, just yesterday we were discussing on the “Transphobic advert” thread how the simple truth, that a male is a man, causes them to bleed to death. And here we have the word “he” represented as an arrow through the heart and a blood-stained shirt. Or nails in the flesh (are they stealing from the brilliant Frida Kahlo, here?).

Like Michel Dumaresq’s throat-cutting dream, this cartoon is revealing: they’ve got blood and guts and murder on their minds over “misgendering.” It’s as plain as day, isn’t it? And, to make something sick even sicker, they INFANTILIZE the whole mess by portraying themselves barely pubescent stick figures.

Ugh. “Icky” and “yucky” indeed! All their propaganda feels unclean.

  11. KittyBarber Says:

What do you suppose it feels like to me, trans ‘girl’ nextdoorwhen men (yes, almost exclusively men) call me: bitch cunt whore fish skank and on and on, the never-ending list of horrible things men call women, all women, every hour of every day. I honestly cannot bring myself to care about ‘misgendering’ some man when, since I can REMEMBER, I have been regularly called ‘sir,’ ‘buddy,’ ‘mister,’ and often “Oh I’m sorry! I thought you were a man!” in addition to the woman-hating epithets that target all females.

This has been happening to me and many other women I know since we were children. One grows some hide, learns to put the creep-shields up. But the price we pay for that self-protection can be quite high. Perhaps the trans can’t understand any of this, new as they are, apparently, to being treated like a 2d or 3d-class human. And I’m white.

I was once quite sympathetic, recognizing that anyone who claimed to have been *given the wrong body* must be pretty damn miserable. Having a delusion strong enough to drive them to total extremes–surgery, drugs, burning off of facial hair, etc–obviously a very ill person in need of intervention and long-term psychiatric and psychotherapy.

In the last few years, however, having seen the trans/gender/sex/________whatever-it–is gain ground, in spite of all we know about medicine, psychology, mental illness, misogyny, sex and sexuality, I find my sympathy has bottomed out. I’ve seen the abuse heaped on feminists by these men, and that is intolerable. But perhaps more importantly, women–that is, females–are losing the simple and necessary (and few) protections that we have because of ‘gender-identity’ laws and policies. WE are paying a price for the rights of people who believe that ‘gender’ is innate, and that we’re to believe that they were given the wrong body! (Why not the wrong brain?)

I can’t come up with a parallel to this: Your delusion is more important than my right to privacy. More important than a spot I could have had on that team.

I’m sure we’ll all wake up one day rather soon, and most of this nonsense will just fade away, like any phenomenon. I only hope it doesn’t become too difficult to regain what we are losing today.

    • kesher Says:

One of the major turning points for me against trans activism is the idea that you don’t even need to have a brain/body disconnect to have the “right” to transition and, of course, the “right” to invade the opposite sex’s facilities. They even have a slur for transpeople who actually have gender dysphoria and who believe you should actually have it to qualify as “trans”: truscum.

      • Yeah, that is when I had my turning point, too. I’ve known people w/dysphoria, and to hear actual trans people putting them down for talking about that? Down the rabbit hole.

Now I get it: the AFABs are usually the “truscum” and that’s the real reason they hate them. Took me a long time to sort that out.

      • Lizzy Shaw Says:

There were a lot of things to make me hit peak trans and peak queer: the lesbophobia, the anti-science, the cult-like behavior the misogyny, the erasure (women are now “fertile people with vaginas”), ect. The truscum thing was one of them too. I have met people with dysphoria who have had wannabes put them down for talking about it and saying that dysphoria is a requirement for being trans. Also, DaisyDeadhead is right that most of the people who get the “truscum” label are female. I’ve been called a truscum before too, and I’m not even trans (but I am female). I think the truscum thing is poorly disguised woman-hatred once again. If you go down the transanity rabbit hole on tumblr, you’ll learn that trans men/FTTs are the source of all the evil in the world whereas trans women/MTTs are perfect and can do no wrong, and hey that TERF bitch deserved those rape and death threats anyway.

Putting aside how shaky the medicine related to sex dysphoria/Gender Identity Disorder is, it seems very illogical to lump people who have a medical/physiological problem in with people who do not have a medical/physiological problem. You wouldn’t give out anti-depressants to people who don’t have depression, right?

  12. Miep Says:

“When you threaten to rape me because I point out you’re a man, I haz a sad.”

  13. anon male Says:

No one addresses anyone by gendered pronouns in English. If I’m talking to a female woman (for maximum clarity here_, at no point in the conversation will I ever have cause to say she or her regarding her person. Because there’s that helpful word “you.”

It’s amazing how they fucking get that confused. But it’s not about controlling how people talk to them but ABOUT them *to other people.* There’s a difference between the two situations even when taking civility and politeness into account.

Also, re. your twitter (which I’m not on but read in the sidebar here), holy shit, OITNB, caught up with that this weekend and “black women don’t know what a urethra is, barely even the lesbians, and have to be taught by a tranny who has a picture perfect facsimile designed like a fancy kitchen remodel with autocad blueprints.”

So nice you can be racist against black women if you’re edifying black transwomen in the process.

    • A Woman Says:

Exactly–we use you in direct conversation and if I am not taking to the person they have no right to demand how I speak about them–controll

    • Lizzy Shaw Says:

That’s a really good point there, anon male. Trans activism is focused on policing how other people perceive them/talk about them. People do sometimes use words like “sir” and “ma’am” when talking with someone, but this graphic wasn’t about those words, was it? It was about s/he third person pronouns.

  14. kesher Says:

At least the author is asking politely. Definitely an improvement over the “misgendering is violence” (and thus merits a violent response) line of thought.

    • Teal Deer Says:

In his words, he’s asking politely, but with his images, he’s conveying the ol’ “misgendering is violence” party line.

      • lin Says:

Right, those are faces of anger, not sadness, and the next image would show him pulling that arrow out and bashing us over the head with it, head-butting us with that giant ice cube, or just having a meltdown.

  15. Tracy Says:

Wow, what a breath of fresh air! I found this site a few days ago and have been lurking and reading here and also sites from the Gender Critical link. It’s good to finally find people who have not uncritically swallowed the errant nonsense and convoluted “reasoning” of the transgender crowd. I’m in my 50s and I’ve always viewed transgenderism as a capitulation to sexism, rather than a challenge to it.

A bit off the topic of this particular post, but I have a question. From browsing the net, the only cogent critical thought about transgenderism I’m finding is coming from lesbian radical feminists. Though a feminist since the 70s, I’m straight, and not entirely sure where I belong among the different strains of feminism, other than I’m a firm critic of gender roles. I tell people that I don’t have a “gender identity”, that I have sex and I have a personality.

I regularly get hammered among my liberal friends and acquaintances online for refusing to unquestioningly accept the transgender agenda and for daring to disagree. I get called a “hater”, “ignorant”, ad nauseum. What’s up with that? Why can’t more feminists and liberals in general see that transgenderism reinforces sexist gender roles rather than challenge them?

Thanks to the writers of this blog and other similar ones for calling out the BS for what it is.

If anyone is at all interested, I wrote a post on my own blog about children and transgenderism: http://malcontent3.wordpress.com/2014/06/09/children-transgenderism-and-magical-thinking/

    • GallusMag Says:

I’m lesbian but many of the women who comment here are not. The Lesbian community is ground zero for the trans movement because most male transgenders are heterosexual men who harass the shit out of us in our own community in their quest to act out their male lesbian fantasies. Also, many many sex-role nonconforming lesbians are pressured to “transition” to “fix” their sex-role noncompliance and/or to seek social acceptance by “passing” as male.

      • Tracy Says:

Makes sense. Straight gender non-conforming women are also often assumed to be lesbian or “wanting to be men”. Never mind that sexual orientation has absolutely zippo to do with one’s level of gender role conformity or lack thereof. The “wanting to be men” crap was especially prevalent in the 70s, whenever women wanted to do anything non-traditional or be taken seriously doing anything outside the gendered mold. The transfolk, at least the FtM ones like Chaz/Chastity Bono have apparently taken that “wants to be a man” crap at face value.

    • Adrian Says:

Welcome (if I can say that in the comments of someone else’s blog…). Middle-aged gender-nonconforming straight woman here, always just considered myself “just a feminist” (and on the left on other issues as well) and found myself wondering just what was up with the “female brain” ideology of the modern transgender movement, as well as the “well if you don’t want to have sex for men all the time you’re repressed and isn’t porn great?” ideology of the “sex positive feminist” crowd. Lately I have people suggesting that facets of my personality maybe mean “you’re actually trans” and just… no.

Mainly though I just wanted to second your statement that

“…I don’t have a “gender identity”, that I have sex and I have a personality.”

That is EXACTLY where I’m coming from. Label or not, that’s the key, for me. Agreed with your blog post too.

      • Tracy Says:

Thanks for the kind words. You know what also burns me up? The word “cisgender”, “ciswoman”. I’m not a “ciswoman”. I’m just a woman, period. A REAL woman. The genuine article, who went through 30 years of periods, menopause, sex discrimination, had a baby, and so on. The transfolk say they coined cisgender/sexual/woman/man/whatever so that they won’t be seen as “other” in the same way that “non-white” made black people be seen as “other”. Well, being trans IS “other” and non-standard, where being black, white, Asian, etc are NATURAL things unlike the artificially constructed cosmetically appearing female and male impersonators.

    • A Woman Says:

I am also not a lesbian. From all my reading the lesbians saw this coming down the pike years ago. One problem we may have is that our liberal friends and co-workers also mostly straight have bought this hook line and sinker—but I have been seeing a change the past few months. The nasty demands these men make, the narcissism, all pop out. But being “accepting” of white men role playing is what women have been raised to do and we do. And these men are used to having their demands met by women. Lib friends feel themselves quite smug and open minded–which is laughable. We also do not have any real venues, or discourse by which we can gain confidence and some ground against these guys. Alone we are sunk and will be calling their dicks Madame every time they jam it down our throats–

I am sticking with right along side the lesbians on this. I do not let my straight friends that think men have some right to rape or that this is not about men demanding their sexual pleasure be provided to them by women, get to me.

As far as het goes there is another aspect and I keep this front and center in my mind. The women and the children whose lives are destroyed by these men are not in the LBG community. They have no support; they are driven underground in silence and are still financially depended on these men. Their lives are hell.

I also suspect the ex-wives have been the victims of some horrific sexual abuse by their husbands and they have children to protect so they have to remain silent until their kids are older. They are shell shocked, broke, and nobody is there for them. The G and the T have turned them into pariahs or dismissed them as mad women in the attic, bigots, haters, bla bla bla. In my field their are quite a few of these guys and that is a problem if I want to keep working and not get blacklisted. I do a lot of talking around on this topic. Straight liberal women it is like talking to a wall and that is depressing sometimes. I had an exchange with one recently. It had to with a local establishment changing some policies. And I told the women it was bad to have these men in women’s safe spaces. One said, ” well what about the lesbians looking me up and down–which is a bit of joke I mean going out on my straight lady limb if I were a lesbian she would not interest me. Anyway I almost tore her head off. Really I was very angry and thinking you stupid rich cow. I mustered all my restraint and
I said well that never has happened to me but I could imagine it would be uncomfortable (I mean what the hell could I say–I think it is all in your head or okay I know I am super ugly and flat chested–neither of which I care about btw) but if I were given the choice of raped or looked at I would take looked at. But in real life women do not get the choice. And women have the right to that space and men do not. And women do not rape. But male Rape is something women are too used to–a kind of numbness surrounds it. And the “I lived through it so can she” attitude often prevails.

These are heterosexual men. When lesbians do not meet their demands–and who in hell would, they’ll be back. They know how to manipulate us better with their male BS. I feel these men are a threat to every single woman and to children. I trust my instincts on this even if I have not articulated it well. Sometimes not very often someone will make a nasty comment suggesting that het women created the problem as if I am some straight lady leading a cushy life-sucking dick every night. I take a deep breath then.

These men are a threat to all women. Period. If that makes sense? Oh and GM is fricken brilliant this blog should go down in history.

      • GallusMag Says:

Thank you Motherhood. I expect my work will be noted at my execution.😛

      • A Woman Says:

GM, you should live and be well. Maybe they’ll put some of us in “homes” you know “places” together. My fanstasy for you is the best of GT gets put together in a book and sold–and you get screaming rich.

      • GallusMag Says:

LOL that works for me! I would even settle for “reasonably solvent”. haha Send in your book deals publishers! I’m ready to negotiate!

      • kesher Says:

I’m not sure if that’s wishful thinking or just plain old homophobia. I have never, not once, been made to feel objectified by a lesbian, and I’ve been to multiple lesbian bars and dance clubs with friends.

      • Smits Says:

My hope is that one day GM’s work can be looked back on like the funny, incisive stuff put out by the suffragette movements- a monument to feminist resistance in the face of now-inconceivable male bullshit.

    • silkyvelvet Says:

@ Tracy: Thank you for your insightful and intelligent observations. You’re so right that GenderTrender is a breath of fresh air; I seldom post here, but I’m an avid reader – GallusMag does outstanding work. I, too, am a straight woman and a liberal; however, I’ve gotten incredibly fed up with other liberals who have allowed themselves to be conned by these brutally misogynist trans guys. It’s as if all of these particular liberals’ critical thinking has disappeared – and they’re in complete denial about the very real physical danger posed by trannies, who are without a doubt the scariest, most violent misogynists.

    • I’m a streight woman as well and this site has been a lifesaver. I never really gave the trans movement much thought. As a somewhat liberal 49 yo black woman I have always been in favor of gay rights, including marriage equality and ENDA. So I thought the trans went along with that. I am mildly active in black feminist sites and was following a well known black woman on twitter. Well, one of her friends is trans and was complaining about women who don’t like the term “cis.” I commented rather mildly that I don’t like that word either. And went on to explain that as a black woman born in the Jim Crow south I’d spent my entire life fighting to be recognized as a woman. The notion of someone prefixing me was more than a bit annoying. You would’ve thought I’d said trans folk should be shot at dawn. I was actually told that I, a black woman was privileged over someone who’d spent most of their lives living as a white man!!!

Frankly, I was stunned and started looking at this more closely and have been horrified at the way black women have joined in with this fuckery. At Clutch, an online magazine for black women, they regularly report on trans women sob stories about being humiliated in the women’s bathroom. When I point out how dangerous it is to have “penis people” in a room designated for women I’m lambasted by cries of bigotry and transphobia. I thought for a while that somehow I’d gotten it wrong, but coming to this site has reassured me that my fears are valid. These people are dangerous.

      • belindieG Says:

Exactly. I don’t want to have to be an extra in their little fantasy make-believe shows.

      • Sula Says:

Hi Roslyn, I think many of us have come to the same position recently. Like you, I consider myself to be all in favour of equal rights and anti-discrimination legislation and never really considered the trans issue other than in the context of equality. But now, seeing how they twist words and are, in fact, the ones who are most essentialist and backwards in their dogma, and the abuse that women get from them..well, it’s been an eye-opener. Many on the left, or at least liberal, in the UK are coming round to realising the true trans agenda and even journalists like Glosswitch and Sarah Ditum (not known for being radical) are dismantling the trans edifice and challenging the stranglehold they have over some sections of social media. They are vile bullies and have nothing to do with genuine feminism. Keep up the brilliant work Gallus, you’re gaining more and more support with each passing day.

      • Lizzy Shaw Says:

If you voice the slightest disagreement with them, then they act like you’re calling for their execution. Their narcissism is that deep. I’ve bumped into some older comments on here where people were accusing Gallus Mag of literally destroying civilization with her blog.

I’ve seen some of that kind of racism too. I guess it shouldn’t surprise me considering how most MTTs are in denial about being male and ever experiencing male privilege. I suppose it’s not that much more narcissism and cognitive dissonance for those MTT white men to think that black women are “privileged” over them.

It’s still disgusting though and I am sick of them. I don’t think that a lot of the women defending them have ever met one in real life or I think they might change their tune.

      • anon male Says:

Roslyn, I’ve always appreciated your comments at Clutch, going it alone mostly (not that backup from some random white dude like me would help).

What I’ve always found perplexing is the responses to you are “this site is for and about all black women, if you don’t like it, you can leave.”

Because even if someone believes that transwomen aren’t male and are female and are fullstop women, well, they’re still like 1% of the population, less if you don’t live in a trendy city.

If 10% of the stories at Clutch (or 30% like at Colorlines which has doubled down on trans) were about Black Jehovah’s Witnesses, of course the audience would be, “ok, why the disproportionate focus? Why are the editors really into this?”

But you can’t ask that about trans. Of course they deserve the limelight.

      • The thing about it is, I don’t think most of those black women on Clutch and other sites have any idea what trans is really about. I don’t think it’s an accident that the face of this “movement” is a black man. This country is very comfortable with the sight of a black man in a dress. From Flip Wilson to RuPaul, black men have been undermining black womanhood forever, and America can’t get enough of it. Black women they’re supporting black men, they see Madea when in reality they should be seeing Richard Speck. They don’t know that anyone can claim GID and put on a dress and have access to women’s areas. And they certainly have no idea that heterosexual trans folk even exist. Hell, I didn’t know until I saw them on Tumblr berating lesbians for being anti-penis, when after all “some lesbians have penises.” Fortunately the lesbians there shut that shit down rather quickly. They assume that these people are harmless, even if they don’t see them as women, they think they all take hormones and/or have had some type of surgery. If they knew how many of them were hetero, unmedicated and packing peen the whole story would change. And don’t even get me started on the high rates of criminality and HIV+ rates. And that’s why they Mock up as their “poster girl,” because he’s one of the few that has had surgery.

      • kesher Says:

I think that’s the ugly, little secret for why the mainstream media are no longer “allowed” to ask the SRS question of transwomen. I think most Americans assume transwomen don’t have dicks or at least have plans to get SRS at some point, but the actual fact of the matter is that most transwomen (especially those who prefer sex with women) have not had SRS and never will. (And, really, why should they castrate themselves? They have perfectly well functioning genitals as it is.)
Even the more delusional members of the trans community recognize, on some level, the outrage/hysteria that would erupt if the average American found out that “lesbian” transwomen with dicks want access to the women’s locker room, so now they’re trying to turn it into a taboo subject.

      • anon male Says:

Clutch’s R Kelly piece today is hilarious, especially a few people complimenting them on their enlightened coverage. Of course, the article can’t point out the obvious:

Gee, if your dad urinates on teenage girls, fucks them, or both, on camera, if you were his daughter, why WOULDN’T you be a boy to ensure you escape that fate?

      • shediogenes Says:

@ Kesher. I think there is also a misconception that men taking estrogen are impotent

      • @anonymous male I thought the same thing, but since I absolutely refuse to discuss this CHILD whose parents are obviously batshit crazy I didn’t comment on that thread. The crazy is so deep.

      • GallusMag Says:

@Roslyn- I’m not covering it either. The kid did not “come out” to the media. She was outed from something she posted on her facebook page.

      • GallusMag Says:

UGH. Sickening. Transactivists will exploit any kid, any time. Disgusting.

      • Lizzy Shaw Says:

        @Gallus Mag

I agree it’s sickening. These people don’t have much of a leg to stand on if they aren’t exploiting children, do they? They’re already using children who don’t conform to sex roles as fodder to “prove” that MTT isn’t a fetish and they promote the medical abuse of those children. (And yes, some MTTs aren’t in it for the fetish but most seem to be.)

People were saying, hey let’s respect this kids privacy but then that’s transphobic…

    • Leo Says:

Hello, Tracey, only wandered onto this blog fairly recently myself too. I’m a young (26) asexual woman, so that doesn’t really fit in anywhere in feminism in particular, except, as far as I’m concerned, in opposition to sex pozzis.

Completely behind Radical Feminists and wanting to help support the lesbian community if possible on the trans issue, the harassment they in particular are being targeted with is just utterly unacceptable. So called ‘feminists’ facilitating this instead of standing firmly against it and with actual females is a sign just how awry the movement’s gone, I really don’t know how they can keep justifying prioritising MtT instead of women even to themselves. You’d think seeing as that lesbophobic LibFem seemed so worried by the idea of being looked at by another woman she might stop to consider how lesbians might feel about being accused of bigotry for wanting nothing to do with penises, but of course not. As far as I’m concerned, even IF the transactivists were somehow right (nope), it wouldn’t matter much, reproductive biology would still logically have more relevance to feminism, women aren’t oppressed for their brains.

I’m not happy one bit about people being encouraged to alter their perfectly healthy bodies either, it’s very irresponsible, as well as being a poor use of resources. Of course, the wants of men are more important than the actual medical needs of disabled women or THEIR body image issues (wow at Frida Kahlo’s The Broken Column, morag, what a powerful piece), and the body image issues of women and girls generally. The idea of healthy children being sent down this path, and needing medical intervention their entire lives instead of allowed to develop normally, is horrifying.

Gallus, your blog is an island of sanity in a world that seems to have gone even more inexplicably nuts than usual. : )

      • Mar Iguana Says:

“…a world that seems to have gone even more inexplicably nuts than usual.”

Oh, it’s explicable. The nuttiness began with the first M2Ts: The male gods men created to supplant female gods, intuitively worshiped for thousands more years than the usurping male gods have been, because of woman’s “magical” ability to create human beings.

The early womb-envying patriarchs demanded the absurd worship of transmogrified male gods who have the power to create life and human existence has been nuts ever since. Per Voltaire: “Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities”. Men demanding they be considered women is absolutely atrocious.

Myself, I wish people would grow the fuck up, quit worshiping mommy OR daddy gods and realize Spirit cannot be anthropomorphized.

  16. pandoracurioser Says:

yep. This does not work for women: “You are too emotional” “O my god do I really need to waste my time” “Man-hater”.
But it’s a man asking to be loved and respected: so sweet!

  17. pandoracurioser Says:

which by the way means that he is being treated exactly like a man (with deference), and treating others exactly like a man (he comes first. ALWAYS)

  18. Jane Says:

Goo goo bah bah is right – I’m so tired of the cutesy, childish Anime-influenced imagery favored by the genderspecial. It really says a lot about their emotional ages.

ps. LOL at this tweet you responded to:

Is there anything they can’t teach us about womanhood?

    *gag*

having watched orange is the new black and the scene where he (laverne cock) schools the womyn about their vaginas enraged me. just so unnecessary and made me lose respect for the creator of the show jenji kohan who i know see is on this trans-ass-kissing bandwagon erasing real womyn. absolutely repulsive.

  19. Bev Jo Says:

Absolutely! Selfish, self-centered, female-hating cult leaders who demand women obey the male cult.

The first step in joining the trans cult is to give up your sense of reality and truth, just like with any other cult.

Women see the man, think and say, “The man, he….” and then they are yelled at, publicly humiliated, told they are bigots, so the next time, they think “The man, he…” but say, “The transwoman, she…” Such relief at not being reprimanded and punished, like the tortured lab animal who has leaned to right move to avoid torture.

They watch and learn the other cult rules that go against common sense and reality. Then they advance in the cult by policing other women in “transgender etiquette,” which some of us call mindfuck/gaslighting. It spreads. The cult takes over what used to be a way that women could be proud of those they love learning to not oppress them — like the Lesbian who didn’t brag that her family now treats her with respect after trying to get them to stop their Lesbian-hating comments of decades, but instead she brags that they are now using the “correct” pronouns for “transwomen.”

Bev Jo, that is such a concise and accurate depiction of what’s happening, I love it. There’s this delusion that trans and their supporters project, that when they see a “trans woman” they see someone 100% unambiguously woman, indistinguishable from any actual woman, which is bullshit. They’re seeing the same 6ft guy with an adam’s apple and tacky floral dress as we are, they know who they’re looking at and their perception hasn’t changed at all. The ONLY thing that’s changed are the words used, which of course is why correct terminology is the number one (sometimes only?) concern of trans activists. I do wonder sometimes with some people who are just too far gone, if they have actually ceased to *see* the reality of things. I mean certainly all these men who think they look anything like a real woman and insist they “pass” have no fucking clue what an actual human woman looks like OR what is being reflected back at them in the mirror, though they see real women all around them every day (and spend god knows how long admiring their laydee guise in the mirror, in photos, in videos…always “presenting” their supposedly “internal womanhood” for some external gaze). But everyone else (and at the end of the day, I suspect even the most deluded men) knows exactly what’s going on. Because if they really considered these men interchangeable with, indistinguishable from boring old women, they wouldn’t give a shit about their feelings and we wouldn’t hear anything about them.

      • Pegasus Olsen Says:

If you take a look at forums like reddit’s ‘transpassing’, it becomes very clear how delusional many are with regard to how well they ‘pass’ — and the most average looking, obvious males on there get a cascade of comments about how they look like such a gorgeous, ‘cis’ girl! It’s a community based on wishful thinking and blinded by their mutual fetish(es). The most interesting thing, though, is that it really makes clear how generally tolerant of transgenderism the mainstream public is — if these dudes are getting ma’amed, as they claim, then it is because people are choosing to humor them. Women seem to go along with them out of misplaced pity (again, like you said, making clear that they are essentially seen as men) and men simply don’t like to harsh each other’s buzz. Men give extraordinary leeway to other men’s sexual turn-ons, as long as they are not involved or implicated against their will. The only MtTs getting killed are the ones who ‘break’ this man code and ‘provoke’ homophobic panic.

(The other notable thing I’ve learned from sometimes lurking trans forums is that many basically only live ‘as women’ online — they are in ‘boy mode’ offline until they finish school or get a good job, etc. Some remain in ‘boy mode’ for YEARS even after starting hormones. I’ll admit to feeling pretty betrayed by that last bit; silly me, I had thought that they had the decency not to act like their lives had any resemblance to ours!)

      • Adrian Says:

At least in many places on the internet where trans ideology and trans-friendly things are discussed, the idea that any individual’s problems might POSSIBLY be caused by their not passing is just absolutely 100% forbidden and not to be talked about.

The hilarious thing though is how much it’s the obvious elephant in the room.

So you’ve got bathroom talk, where some people are challenged more than others – because some people, let’s be frank about it, “pass” more than others, at least fully clothed in an environment where staring at people generally doesn’t happen and the “women” sign on the door makes people expect that anyone in there is probably a woman to begin with.

The people getting yelled at in there are very much not passing. Inside, they know damn well that’s what’s going on (and it’s why they’re constantly “testing” things by going in the women’s, for a lot of them). But you’re not supposed to mention it.

Similarly you’ve got all the discussion about how it’s bigoted to not be attracted to M2T, and the only reason you’d say so (as a woman) is that your sexual orientation is to “vaginas” because of course, the official line is that you don’t know that the M2T is possibly packing peen until the moment the lace panties hit the floor. As a lesbian, you’re supposed to fall for that tacky flowered dress, because being lesbian is about being attracted to “woman” which in this ideology is about being attracted to the pile of stereotypes. Yeah.

Of course if they’ve had the neo-vag installed, then you’re really supposed to not be able to tell, and heaven forbid, if you find out that the person is trans that fact can’t be allowed to change your perceptions of them AT ALL.

…never mind that that fact tells you that the person has gone through certain Really Big Experiences (regardless of how you might feel about the “validity” of transgenderism even). Not all people really want to take on that baggage, not even people who otherwise are 100% on the bandwagon of Camp Trans.

And finally, absolutely there are people who are trying to make it a “rule” that if you see someone in a dress, you should always assume that means the person identifies as a woman and so you should do the “compassionate thing” and call them “she.” Don’t ask for pronouns (that advice is so LAST MONTH), because that reminds them they don’t pass. Never mind that there are some men (men! Male! identifying as men!) who wear skirts in the summer.

@kesher- considering that former gay, now trans GLAAD regards the term “gender-bender” as defamatory in their media guide I’d say the long term prognosis for guys like Izzard is poor. Did you see the plot line in the new season of Orange is the New Black where the M2T trans* TEACHES all the women what their genitals look like and how they work? He’s the only one in the “women’s prison” who knows where the urethra and clit are in relation to the vagina, and he explains that he got this rare and mysterious knowledge by designing his own franken-vulva.

Seriously: it’s episode 4 of season 2, titled “A Whole Other Hole”. Know why it’s called that? Because the trans* teaches all the silly women that they don’t pee out of their vaginas. No, I’m not kidding.

He literally draws a room full of women a giant picture of a vulva, then explains the parts in a group presentation. And they thank him!! Then he gives them the assignment to go back to their bunks and explore their vaginas…and they cheer!!

Incredibly sexist and insulting – I’ve never been so pissed off watching TV.

I tend not to care at all.
The only time when it was offensive were when I was a little girl, in a bikini, with a shaved head, and people decided that I was male (despite my very obvious LACK of a penis and female name), aka, basing their opinion of my sex on their sex stereotypes.

Are they trying to emasculate men or trying to live out a gay fantasy? If this comment isn’t approved, I’ll understand. It’s just that most of the arguments against transgender people are always the male who becomes female. Never the female who becomes male. I’ve seen it a few times here and there but nothing major. Where are some of the heavier arguments against ftm?

    • Teal Deer Says:

M2T are aggressive, and doing everything they can to chip away at the rights, privacy, and safety of women, as well as pushing society to deny reality. FTM are tragic, but are mostly harming themselves. They generally aren’t leading the charge on silencing women and centering trans.

I goofed. Maybe it’s because the M2T get more media time, but for some reason, the pushy, vicious examples of FTM frequently fall to the back of my awareness. Possibly also because the M2T feel more dangerous and seem to be taken more seriously. That is an error, and I do apologize for painting an inaccurate, lopsided picture.

      • Adrian Says:

@red – for whatever odd reason I followed the famous actor kid tumblr ages ago and so it still comes up on my dash, there’s interesting stuff amongst the trans stuff, and it’s handy for keeping tabs on the trans stuff. If you’re looking for a blog that’s all about fetishization of the gay experience, particularly where that crosses over with your usual boarding school images and oh the naked swimming at the club and early 20th century upper-class male bonding stuff (plus classic Broadway), that is the blog for you. If anything it reminds me of various blogs dedicated to following “yaoi” comics, only higher brow.

But lately? Been blogging all about chairs with dildos built in, I kid you not.

The harasser teen story is legendary by now and yeah 100% always painted as the evil TERF who is outing kids to their schools and having them killed I say killed I say KILLED! Usually if some nth generation retelling comes up in some thread I’m on I will point out the initial failure of that kid to stop with the endless harassing, it seems most people heard the story 3rd or 4th hand ages after it happened and just plain have no idea of what led up to any of it.

Where F2T cross my personal boundary just rhetoric wise is when they start going on and on about how they are supposedly special for being this amazing thing that rejects feminine gender norms and so therefore the rest of us women who don’t decide that we’re men and want to have radical plastic surgery must all be docile cows who are just 100% all cool with buying into the Messages Of The Man.

        Because fuck that noise.

    • Adrian Says:

Thing is, gender is a hierarchy, not a binary. This is the reason why traditionally “boy names” can become “girl names” over time, but the reverse doesn’t happen, it’s why women wearing pants are often policed less than men wearing dresses. This hierarchy is enforced by the patriarchy.

But because it’s a hierarchy, the two trans directions of “MTF” and “FTM” are very much not symmetrical.

You can’t just swap out the sexes any more than you can switch “black” and “white” in a discussion on US racial theory – though goodness knows on the internet people are constantly attempting to do both.

That said though, if you search around the archives there have been quite a few discussions about FTM. They’re allowed to be in women’s space because… they’re female humans. They suffer from the oppressions of women.

    Transgender Surgery Isn’t the Solution

A drastic physical change doesn’t address underlying psycho-social troubles.

    By Paul McHugh

The government and media alliance advancing the transgender cause has gone into overdrive in recent weeks. On May 30, a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services review board ruled that Medicare can pay for the “reassignment” surgery sought by the transgendered—those who say that they don’t identify with their biological sex. Earlier last month Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said that he was “open” to lifting a ban on transgender individuals serving in the military. Time magazine, seeing the trend, ran a cover story for its June 9 issue called “The Transgender Tipping Point: America’s next civil rights frontier.”

Yet policy makers and the media are doing no favors either to the public or the transgendered by treating their confusions as a right in need of defending rather than as a mental disorder that deserves understanding, treatment and prevention. This intensely felt sense of being transgendered constitutes a mental disorder in two respects. The first is that the idea of sex misalignment is simply mistaken—it does not correspond with physical reality. The second is that it can lead to grim psychological outcomes.

The transgendered suffer a disorder of “assumption” like those in other disorders familiar to psychiatrists. With the transgendered, the disordered assumption is that the individual differs from what seems given in nature—namely one’s maleness or femaleness. Other kinds of disordered assumptions are held by those who suffer from anorexia and bulimia nervosa, where the assumption that departs from physical reality is the belief by the dangerously thin that they are overweight.

With body dysmorphic disorder, an often socially crippling condition, the individual is consumed by the assumption “I’m ugly.” These disorders occur in subjects who have come to believe that some of their psycho-social conflicts or problems will be resolved if they can change the way that they appear to others. Such ideas work like ruling passions in their subjects’ minds and tend to be accompanied by a solipsistic argument.

For the transgendered, this argument holds that one’s feeling of “gender” is a conscious, subjective sense that, being in one’s mind, cannot be questioned by others. The individual often seeks not just society’s tolerance of this “personal truth” but affirmation of it. Here rests the support for “transgender equality,” the demands for government payment for medical and surgical treatments, and for access to all sex-based public roles and privileges.

With this argument, advocates for the transgendered have persuaded several states—including California, New Jersey and Massachusetts—to pass laws barring psychiatrists, even with parental permission, from striving to restore natural gender feelings to a transgender minor. That government can intrude into parents’ rights to seek help in guiding their children indicates how powerful these advocates have become.

How to respond? Psychiatrists obviously must challenge the solipsistic concept that what is in the mind cannot be questioned. Disorders of consciousness, after all, represent psychiatry’s domain; declaring them off-limits would eliminate the field. Many will recall how, in the 1990s, an accusation of parental sex abuse of children was deemed unquestionable by the solipsists of the “recovered memory” craze.

You won’t hear it from those championing transgender equality, but controlled and follow-up studies reveal fundamental problems with this movement. When children who reported transgender feelings were tracked without medical or surgical treatment at both Vanderbilt University and London’s Portman Clinic, 70%-80% of them spontaneously lost those feelings. Some 25% did have persisting feelings; what differentiates those individuals remains to be discerned.

We at Johns Hopkins University—which in the 1960s was the first American medical center to venture into “sex-reassignment surgery”—launched a study in the 1970s comparing the outcomes of transgendered people who had the surgery with the outcomes of those who did not. Most of the surgically treated patients described themselves as “satisfied” by the results, but their subsequent psycho-social adjustments were no better than those who didn’t have the surgery. And so at Hopkins we stopped doing sex-reassignment surgery, since producing a “satisfied” but still troubled patient seemed an inadequate reason for surgically amputating normal organs.

It now appears that our long-ago decision was a wise one. A 2011 study at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden produced the most illuminating results yet regarding the transgendered, evidence that should give advocates pause. The long-term study—up to 30 years—followed 324 people who had sex-reassignment surgery. The study revealed that beginning about 10 years after having the surgery, the transgendered began to experience increasing mental difficulties. Most shockingly, their suicide mortality rose almost 20-fold above the comparable nontransgender population. This disturbing result has as yet no explanation but probably reflects the growing sense of isolation reported by the aging transgendered after surgery. The high suicide rate certainly challenges the surgery prescription.

There are subgroups of the transgendered, and for none does “reassignment” seem apt. One group includes male prisoners like Pvt. Bradley Manning, the convicted national-security leaker who now wishes to be called Chelsea. Facing long sentences and the rigors of a men’s prison, they have an obvious motive for wanting to change their sex and hence their prison. Given that they committed their crimes as males, they should be punished as such; after serving their time, they will be free to reconsider their gender.

Another subgroup consists of young men and women susceptible to suggestion from “everything is normal” sex education, amplified by Internet chat groups. These are the transgender subjects most like anorexia nervosa patients: They become persuaded that seeking a drastic physical change will banish their psycho-social problems. “Diversity” counselors in their schools, rather like cult leaders, may encourage these young people to distance themselves from their families and offer advice on rebutting arguments against having transgender surgery. Treatments here must begin with removing the young person from the suggestive environment and offering a counter-message in family therapy.

Then there is the subgroup of very young, often prepubescent children who notice distinct sex roles in the culture and, exploring how they fit in, begin imitating the opposite sex. Misguided doctors at medical centers including Boston’s Children’s Hospital have begun trying to treat this behavior by administering puberty-delaying hormones to render later sex-change surgeries less onerous—even though the drugs stunt the children’s growth and risk causing sterility. Given that close to 80% of such children would abandon their confusion and grow naturally into adult life if untreated, these medical interventions come close to child abuse. A better way to help these children: with devoted parenting.

At the heart of the problem is confusion over the nature of the transgendered. “Sex change” is biologically impossible. People who undergo sex-reassignment surgery do not change from men to women or vice versa. Rather, they become feminized men or masculinized women. Claiming that this is civil-rights matter and encouraging surgical intervention is in reality to collaborate with and promote a mental disorder.

It’s funny that GLAAD and other ex-gay organizations keep trotting out the American Psychological Association statement “affirming treatment” for individuals who consider themselves transgender. (“Facts left out of this op-ed include the American Psychological Association and the American Medical Association’s positions that healthcare treatments, including hormone therapy and surgeries, are medically necessary for many transgender people.”)

    • Don’t forget that these drugs damage the health for years to come but trans activists outright lie about this. Even if the evidence is all over the internet. Even adults still suffer from the consequences of puberty blocking drugs (if they had to take it because of precious puberty). There are parents worrying about their childrens health because these drugs destroyed it. But at least children with precious puberty will experience natural puberty when the time is right.

“Trans” children on the other hand will have their puberty stunted from 11/12 until 16 -recently I saw an article that trans activists want to reduce the age liminit to 9 years! 9 fucking years!.

But instead of going to natural puberty they will take cross gendered hormones. Holy shit. That’s unethical and dangerous. The body will not produce natural sex hormones but instead will forvever depend on artificial ones.

There is so much going on with the brain/body/organs during puberty. Important things! Since we know that the puberty blocking drugs are damaging (bone pain, brain fog and so on) – cross gendered hormones will damage the health even more.

Since there are people who became disabled because of drugs like Lupron – I guess the same will happen to “trans children”.

Toxic drugs, no natural puberty, a lifelong dependence on artificial hormones – this will definitely destroy their health and could even make them disabled.

All of this just because they didn’t conform to fucking gender roles. All of this because the trans ideology doesn’t tolerate any criticsm. It’s a poltical cult and it’s fucking dangerous for every gender non-conforming child out there. I really fear for the future of lgb children.
