    unrelated tip:

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/roller-girl-angela-dawson-wins-15k-damages-from-vancouver-police-1.3009637

A transwoman who has ‘an extensive criminal history, involving violence, drugs and fraud and has previously been convicted of manslaughter and spent at least 10 years in a male penitentiary’, has been awarded a $15,000 settlement from the police because they referred to him as him. The finding was by a human rights tribunal, which are a huge problem in Canada. The comments are pretty critical.

    • WTF Is This Nonsense? Says:

Ugh. Sued for not denying reality.

Oddly, I was just hearing about Karla Brenner, a drag queen who’s suing over being put in a women’s prison. I see he was mentioned in a Kosilek article on here.

      http://www.wsmv.com/story/19530117/lawsuit-filed-over-man-sent-to-womens-jail-in-nashville

“Brenner said he was told to say nothing, to pretend he was a woman and go to the women’s prison. Officials said Brenner even checked a box that said he was a woman.”

    • I'm No Cissie Says:

And, if it works like it does in the USA, “the police” aren’t paying her, the local taxpayers are.

But yeah, what a stupid decision.

Love the name “koolaidphobic” by the way.

      • I'm No Cissie Says:

…paying HIM I mean. HIM. I read the article and used the pronoun that they did. Insanity is contagious.

    • CD Says:

“The tribunal found that once Dawson informed officers that she [sic] was a transgender female [sic] and was not treated as such, that was considered discrimination on the basis of sex.”

The CBC must’ve had its funding cut again if they can’t even afford to hire reporters who understand the meaning of the words “female” and “sex”. Anyway, he wasn’t being discriminated against on the basis of sex; the police officers correctly identified his sex and spoke of him accordingly. Moreover, Dawson has not changed his legal name, and the “misgendering” incidents that he refers to almost all involve police paperwork. Surely the cops can’t use a criminal’s alias in official paperwork?

It’s clear from the ruling that the officers who dealt with Dawson have the patience of saints. They testified that when arresting him (on multiple occasions) he frequently made reference to his “vagina” and need to dilate, and that he made sexually aggressive gestures at them on at least one occasion. And yet the only things that he can accuse them of are 1) using his real name and sex on paperwork, 2) referring him to a male nurse, and 3) having a male officer pat him down. All appropriate ways of dealing with a male criminal.

Here are some particularly amusing excerpts from the ruling:

“…I find that [his] evidence has limited reliability. I find that [he] remembers events generally, and has little recall of details.”

“[Mr] Dawson has responded to suggestions that [he] is mistaken by saying that [he] does not lie, that [he] is a hero and a celebrity.”

“[He] testified that [he] was born intersex…”

The partial list of his criminal convictions (p. 4) also includes arson and unspecified sex crimes. I hope they never put him in a women’s prison; he’s already demanding to be patted down by female officers and have his “vagina” dilated by female nurses. Won’t be long before he sexually assaults one of them, I guess.

If you’ve recently eaten, skip p. 6 of the judgment, which is entirely dedicated to a description of his “vagina”. This is because the main part of his complaint is that officers wouldn’t allow him to go home to dilate after he was arrested.

      • Lauren Says:

Trannies need to stop claiming they’re intersex. Transgender is not and will never be considered an intersex condition. Why do these trans cult freaks think they can just steal whatever labels they want. They’ve stolen female, girl, woman, feminist, intersex, lesbian, and gay. Then after they steal identities they try to force other people to change their identity, e.g., forcing people to adopt ‘cis’. It’s just disgusting.

      • kesher Says:

I thought dilation was a once-a-week thing after a while. And why does he need medical assistance to essentially insert a dildo?

And I’m sure they will place him in the women’s prison. The UK and Australia have fallen for that already, and much of Canada is moving in that direction. Who cares about putting women’s safety at risk when men’s “civil rights” are at stake?

      • Zemskull Says:

Hi Lauren: In my observation, transgenders use the “intersex” label because it makes health insurance coverage for their procedures easier to secure, and also society is more readily accepting of intersex persons. I have found that sometimes a transgender person will point to one gender-nonconforming trait he or she has and hang the intersex hat on that.

Ironically, it can be very difficult for a born-woman or born-man who is not claiming transgender or intersex status to receive health insurance coverage to address those conditions. For example, women with polycystic ovarian syndrome may experience thick facial hair, male pattern baldness, and weight gain patterns similar to those that men experience. They are unlikely to receive health insurance coverage to address those issues.

      • CD Says:

@kesher, he was arrested a little while after his surgery (and, um, many times thereafter), at which point it would’ve been necessary to dilate more frequently. It seems that the VPD got a nurse involved because he claimed that dilation was medically necessary, and because they couldn’t otherwise allow him to dilate. Obviously, the VPD doesn’t keep dildos on hand for use by prisoners, and Dawson’s request to send him home to dilate wasn’t reasonable. (I’m not convinced that it’s actually medically necessary, though – of course, he had the surgery to make a pretend vagina, and wanted to prevent it from closing up. But I’d imagine that dilating a wound would pose a substantial risk of infection.)

Actually, most of the judgment is dedicated to the dilation issue; it seems to me that the “misgendering” incidents were a relatively minor part of the claim. It’s reasonable that the police would use somebody’s official identity for paperwork and tickets, and (although I’m not a legal expert) I can’t see how referring to someone by his real identity and sex would ever be grounds for a $15,000 settlement.

However, it suits the CBC to write an article entitled “Roller Girl Angela Dawson wins $15,000 damages from Vancouver police”, rather than to write a more truthful article entitled “Local man with violent criminal past wins $15,000 damages from Vancouver police over dildo access policy”. They can’t risk angering the trans community by telling the truth.

(Also, GM, I tried to submit this comment earlier, but I think there was an error with my mobile. Apologies if I’m sending this twice.)

  9. Susan Nunes Says:

The takeoff on Conway Twitty’s classic “It’s Only Make Believe.” is also good,

  10. CKDexterHaven Says:

I would applaud this only now women have to use jazz hands instead of giving someone a round of applause. (Google the NUS Women’s Conference which, in breathtakingly Third Wave fashion, ruled in favour of greater trans-inclusion and legalising ‘sex work’ but discouraged attendees from clapping because it’s the job of women to accommodate the needs of every special snowflake before we can actually start on the lesser problem of ending discrimination against half the planet).

    • I'm No Cissie Says:

I had read about this via Twitter, I was speechless. This generation of activists won’t be able to change the world when they aren’t even up to living in it. Doesn’t bode well for the future. I can only hope this is just a tiny minority of young people buying in to this kind of twaddle.

      • I can only hope this is just a tiny minority of young people buying in to this kind of twaddle.

Unfortunately all it takes is a small vocal minority (backed by male power) to do a lot of harm. They shut down conversations and contact between other women who then get sucked into the bullshit and are afraid of being labled as transphobe/terf etc.

It’s also very cult-like and teens (students) are particularly succeptible to it. Once upon a time they’d be prey for Hare Krishna or more traditional fringe politics, nowadays it’s the queer cult that seems to fulfill that and gives them a sense of importance and belonging.

  11. Julie Says:

    That was absolutely brilliant!

  12. “Coming to a Gym Near You”….great song.

This really upsets me, and I can see why they closed the comment section on it because the comments were mostly opposed to this madness. Even they know how absurd it has become.

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/roller-girl-angela-dawson-wins-15k-damages-from-vancouver-police-1.3009637

“A transwoman who has ‘an extensive criminal history, involving violence, drugs and fraud and has previously been convicted of manslaughter and spent at least 10 years in a male penitentiary’, has been awarded a $15,000 settlement from the police because they referred to him as him. The finding was by a human rights tribunal, which are a huge problem in Canada. The comments are pretty critical.”

“Men have been adjudicating on what women are, and how they should behave, for millennia through the institutions of social control such as religion, the medical profession, psychoanalysis, the sex industry. Feminists have fought to remove the definition of what a woman is from these masculine institutions and develop their own understandings. Claims to the ‘right’ to self define ‘gender’ subject womanhood to men’s power to define it again.” – Sheila Jeffreys, Gender Hurts

I argue that erasing the female sex as a distinct class of persons and replacing it with “gender identity” is the most odious form of sex discrimination. I didn’t give males permission to steal my identity. Why are women the only historically oppressed group of people who aren’t granted the right to define themselves? Can white European Canadians start identifying as First Nations people?

  13. noname Says:

Hi so im not sure if this is the right place t post but I just wants to say something real quick. I’ve been reading this blog a little bit and wanted to share a couple thoughts and I hope it doesn’t make anyone angry so please no hateful comments!

Basically my sister is a “genderqueer” lesbian and she linked me this blog thinking it would disgust me like it does her but I really found myself understanding a lot of what you say.

So for me I am 19 years old and transgender and transitioning since I was 17. My whole family accepts me as just their daughter/sister and none of my current friends know except one.

My opinion on my identity is this..I identify as basically just a straight girl and that’s just how everyone sees me because I “look the part” buuut…I don’t see myself as fully female. I think it’s impossible to go from male to fully female. I know my body and to me it’s a hybrid..which is fine!

I don’t think I ever transitioned thinking..ohh I’ll be exactly like other girls. Because I won’t be. That’s impossible and that’s okay lol!

But it’s nice not to be reminded that im not..and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with identifying as a girl and preferring female pronouns or name or wearing female clothes because none of that stuff is scientific lol. Insisting you’re completely female IS wrong tho because male and female are biological realities and if you’re transgender you’re basically a freak that isnt 100% one or the other.

Also even though I don’t deal with periods or pregnancy or reproductive stuff in general I do get sexism a lot. Like I’m as passable as it gets (not to be arrogant it’s just true) and very pretty (again im not like tooting my own horn) and I get harassed soo much (as in sexually) and have dealt with some really crappy things so I’d say I do understand a LOT of sexism.

All that being said the stuff I really agree with is the transgender community is sooo sooo creepy. Most are really pervy and weird and what’s funny is so homophobic! I once heard a older transwoman call a younger one a fag because she wasn’t interested in girls O.o and if you say anything to these basically old fetishy men in wigs you’re a transphobe. So i am no longer involved with the trans or LGBT community

Anyway that was long buuut I just wanted to share another side! Please no hateful comments. Like I assume you will probably call me “he” and even tho I disagree with that my life won’t stop if you do haha. Let’s all try to get along and build bridges!!

    • GallusMag Says:

Hi hon. Believe it or not, we already have a regular commenter that calls themselves “noname”. You will have to come up with an alternate name to comment under. Very sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for your comment.

    • Lauren Says:

“My opinion on my identity is this..I identify as basically just a straight girl and that’s just how everyone sees me because I “look the part” buuut…I don’t see myself as fully female. I think it’s impossible to go from male to fully female. I know my body and to me it’s a hybrid..which is fine!”

Would it be so wrong to just fully accept your biological reality as a male but still live your life as you feel compelled? There’s nothing wrong with men looking or behaving in ways that are defined by the patriarchy as ‘feminine’ as long as you don’t try to then say that you are truly female. Your identity ‘basically just a straight girl’ is fallacious. It’s good that you don’t see yourself as female and that you believe it impossible to change sex because it is actually impossible. It is refreshing though to read something by a man who actually accepts that sex change is impossible.

“But it’s nice not to be reminded that im not..and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with identifying as a girl and preferring female pronouns or name or wearing female clothes…”

The problem with saying that you are ‘wearing female clothes’ is that you are very likely subscribing to the idea that there is a certain way, defined by the patriarchy, females are supposed to dress in order to please the men who look at us. The problem with ‘identifying as girl…’ is that you are usurping female identity. The usurpation of female identity by male members of the trans cult is part of what’s leading to the erasure of female identity and the demotion of females from ‘human’ to ‘subhuman’.

“Also even though I don’t deal with periods or pregnancy or reproductive stuff in general I do get sexism a lot. ”

Just…what? You were raised male and experienced male socialisation. This means, whether consciously or subconsciously, you underwent the process of raising males to challenge their circumstances and subdue adversaries whilst controlling the environment around you by exercising your privileges. And the fact that you’re an adult now means there is nothing that can be done to change what is now part of your nature. There is no way for you to go back and experience female socialisation. Why is this important? It’s our socialisation that shapes how we perceive ourselves and the world around us. You will never be able to perceive yourself or the world around you as a female. Our socialisation is very different from yours. Where you were raised to challenge, subdue, and exercise your privilege we were raised, again whether consciously or subconsciously, to submit to our circumstances without question, and to conform and submit to behaviours, social norms, and oppression typically expected of our female sex. This means that we perceive and react to sexism much differently than you. You may experience sexist acts that are commonly directed at the female sex, but those acts are not likely to affect you in the way they affect females.

” Like I’m as passable as it gets (not to be arrogant it’s just true)”

That was arrogant. Saying ‘not to be arrogant’ doesn’t make the male arrogance suddenly vanish. You may have something called ‘alpha male/tranny syndrome’.
*No matter how ‘passable’ you believe you are, you’re not. There’s not a tranny on Earth who can’t be spotted with a careful eye. It’s part of your male biological reality.

“I really agree with is the transgender community is sooo sooo creepy.”

This a million times. And if you think your post here didn’t seem at all creepy then you’re mistaken. Any time a male lays claim to female identity it’s creepy. Any time a male claims to have experienced sexism as a female would experience it it’s creepy. The phrase ‘dress/act/pass like/as a woman’ or anything similar to it is creepy.

“So i am no longer involved with the trans or LGBT community”

What’s wrong with the LGB community? Without the T-parasite attached to it it’s just fine. If you accept your biological reality but still live a stereotypically ‘feminine’ life you may find happiness in the G or B community.

“Like I assume you will probably call me “he” and even tho I disagree with that my life won’t stop if you do haha. Let’s all try to get along and build bridges!!”

You are a ‘he’. Until you find a way to change your biological sex as well as your socialisation you shall remain a ‘he’ regardless of how you look, act, or dress. By the way, you say that you are ‘no longer involved with the trans community’. What exactly are you claiming to be? Because by being a ‘he’ and claiming to be a ‘she’ you’re very much involved with the trans cult.

      Get along and build bridges?

I choose NO. I used to try to get along and maintain bridges with the trans cult, but they burnt them all down. As more and more lesbians refused to accept the penised ones and the ones with peenginas the trans cult became rife with disgusting displays of the typical male aggression, anger, arrogance, stupidity, and violence brought on by female rejection. Many lesbians have received rape threats and even death threats from the trans cult. Why? Because dislike of penis in any form is part of our lesbian identity–and that includes the form of a surgically-created peengina. There are a few ‘lesbians’ who accept the cult, but the majority of us have zero interest in being with male-bodied, male-socialised, penis/peengina-possessing people regardless of how they self-identify.

Have a good day, sir. I hope you escape the cult and manage to have a happy life.

    • LC Says:

Personally, I’m glad you’re reading different sources of information, even if you don’t agree with it. That’s a healthy attitude. I do wonder though- if you know you’ll never be like other girls, what are you hoping for as a result? Is it going to be worth the risks and expense, and can you be sure you won’t change your mind later?

    • Julie Says:

You 100% should live as you feel compelled; a man whom enjoys and finds satisfaction / identity in patriarchy’s definition of feminine trappings and is sexually attracted to other men. Celebrate it, be proud of it!

Do not for one second allow any group to dictate to you what being male should be, whether you realize it or not you’re enforcing an oppressive fallacy with your identification of being a “straight girl”, also – there’s no such thing as female clothing, clothes don’t reproduce.

You’re male, as male as it gets, and how you dress, whom you love, and what you enjoy are all part of your personal male narrative.

Do not do us the disservice of claiming you’re female. Female is not a dumping ground for men whom don’t fit the patriarchal behavior box marked “boy”, smash that fucking box Sir!

    • Bea Says:

“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with identifying as a black person and preferring people accept you as African American or wearing blackface because none of that stuff is scientific lol.”

“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with identifying as disabled and preferring disabled accommodations or using a wheelchair because none of that stuff is scientific lol.”

“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with identifying as indigenous and preferring a Native American name or wearing a feather headdress because none of that stuff is scientific lol.”

      • Bea Says:

Oh, and dude, it’s your cult-brained transgender brothers who have convinced you that “female” is ambiguous and that literally everyone is intersex. Science is pretty clear with regard to mammalian reproduction. Your trans religion seems to be the only group that can’t grasp that.

  14. Oak and Ash Says:

Brilliant song–it brightened a gloomy day. Thanks for linking to it, Gallus Mag!

  15. Hello…I posted in a previous thread, but am new to the blog world and unfamiliar with ettiquete. I’d like to introduce myself real quick, and thank you for this awesome site. Complete with original music!🙂

A couple years ago, an ex dated an M2T “lesbian.” For personal reasons, my ex and I thought this would be a great relationship for her. But after a while it became clear that the M2T had bizarre behavior more aligned with males than females. For example, he had a fetish for nylons, tights, and even tutus.

All of his friends were strippers. He talked about how much he enjoyed being backstage with them…this is when I got suspicous of him, and concluded he was the “ultimate voyeur.”

He was about 40 at the time, and had an ex-wife and son in another state. He graduated from an elite college, but for some reason never launched a career. He was indeed a failed man.

Maybe “beta males” figure if they can’t be “alpha,” they may as well be female. (As if.)

Anyway, he started mooching off my poor friend. She finally dumped him. He’s now very involved in our city’s gay chorus…which scares us away from it.

But meeting him is what truly opened my eyes about the trans community. I felt all alone, because nobody in the gay community was discussing this or seemed to care. The trans bus keeps on running over us.

My mom was a feminist activist during my childhood in the 1970s. She even started my city’s domestic violence shelter, and it’s the only state-certified shelter here.

Her brand of feminism is in my blood. She died in the 1990s, but I’m sure she’d feel as I do about these female impersonators demanding to be in our space, and not taking no for an answer.

Only women get to decide who is welcome in our space. And for obvious reasons, we don’t want men with us when we are at our most vulnerable.

Since men and women really are very different, we can’t assume to know what’s in an M2T’s “pretty little head.” They SAY they “just need to pee.” But, come on. We all know how weird men are. They could be getting off on just hearing the sound of a woman relieving herself. They could be in the next stall ‘pleasuring’ themselves the whole time. (blech)

I’m so grateful for this site, these conversations, and all the great people who post here. I’m not alone! 🙂

I don’t know where this will all lead. I was disappointed to see pro trans articles in Ms.Magazine’s blog. Also, I guess Gloria Steinem is pro trans now? As are the Indigo Girls?

But my guess is that after a while, it will just flame out. People will finally figure out what we already know: there’s no such thing as “trans.” It’s impossible to change a Y chromosome into an X. Androgyny is sexy and cool.

I was a tomboy as a child. Mom let me cut my hair short, and wear boys trunks at the beach with no top. Everybody thought I was a boy! Did I comprehend what a penis was? Uh, no. I just wanted to be free….to play, run, climb. I assumed all little girls were forced to play with Barbi against their wills.

If anyone was a candidate to transition, it would be me. But I was brought up to reject gender stereotypes…thank Goddess.

Anyway, thanks for letting me share. Looking forward to hanging out here….I’ve found a place for me.

Perhaps one day people will look on trans the way we now look on lobotomies. Unfortunatley, we will have to see more genital mutilation in the meantime.

    • Bea Says:

“Maybe “beta males” figure if they can’t be “alpha,” they may as well be female. (As if.)”

That’s what cuttlefish do to get sexual access to females.
      https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GDwOi7HpHtQ

      • morag99 Says:

So, they not only disguise themselves as females, but the flamboyant cuttlefish doesn’t even try to blend in with the world. Instead, he says, “Why doesn’t the world try to blend in with ME?”

        Snort!

This reminds me of a conversation we had here, a year or so ago, about cow birds and cuckoos. About how cow birds hijack another species’ nest and appropriate the female’s labour. This isn’t the first time we’ve compared the male trans to oddities in the animal kingdom!

    • kesher Says:

There’s definitely an angry virgin contingent of current “trans women”; they seem especially active in the cotton ceiling garbage. I suspect once it’s clear that identifying as women won’t get them laid any more than living as loser men, some of them will give up on it.

      • “identifying as women won’t get them laid any more than living as loser men”

        Amen, sister.

        Boycotts worked in the 1960s.

Except this isn’t a planned and organized boycott. Refusing to sleep with a pretendbian is natural for lesbians.

Like I posted,I was a trans ally before my friend dated one. It took me a while to connect the dots that transitioning is anti-feminist.

It’s weird that I used to think that men and women were interchangeable, and that one could just switch parts to be the other.

But this experience, and my open mindedness as the time, showed me that M2Ts can never be female. They just don’t have feminine intuition…they don’t pick up on the body language that is like a second language to us.

They don’t understand sisterhood, and never will.

You can’t surgically implant a feminine soul, heart and mind. It’s sacred, and it’s ours only.
