LGBT Leaders Split Over ‘Dropping the T’: Buzzfeed report

Dominic Holden of Buzzfeed has published a blockbuster report outlining the split between top-funded LGBT lobbying groups over their ongoing battle to force women to give up areas segregated by sex for women’s privacy and protection from epidemic male sexual violence against women (changing rooms, showers, locker rooms, restrooms, hospital rooms, homeless shelters, lesbian services, domestic violence refuges, prison cells, etc) in order that men who desire to impose themselves on the women in those spaces would enjoy the right to do so.

Turns out the plan of convincing women and girls that male violation of female privacy is actually a Good Thing hasn’t panned out too well, and women still don’t want strange men exposing their dicks and they still don’t like strange males watching them as they wrestle out of a wet bathing suit in the locker room at the YMCA.

This, even though it’s been explained to them that biological sex doesn’t really exist and that the whole global male targeting of women thing isn’t even a thing. Even though they’ve been educated that women’s fear of creepy dudes doing god knows what fucked up thing is actually a kooky form of silly female hysteria and social panic. Even though they’ve been reassured that no man alive would ever shoulder the humiliation of throwing on a wig just to have a free ticket to get their freak on at women’s expense. Even though it’s been explained to them that some men are really scared of the other men in sex segregated spaces and/or that it really, really hurts men’s feelings that women have a boundary against male entry to spaces where they are pulling their pants down or inserting a tampon. Even though they’ve been let to know that any male who believes himself to have “female feelings” is incapable of, through commission or act of omission, taking any action which is harmful towards a female person and no such act has ever been recorded in the history of humankind. Even though they’ve been told that letting guys expose themselves and allowing them to gaze upon women undressing may be part of their prescribed psychiatric treatment plan for a ‘Gender Identity’ that all women must sacrifice their comfort and privacy in order to participate in implementing. Unless they are heartless, cruel, hysterical, prudish, bigoted, crazy, awful, nasty women. Of course. Women who want countless men to suffer gruesome violent deaths by murder and suicide all caused by their selfishness.

Anyway, the LGBT campaign against women’s right to privacy and safety, funded by millions (billions?) hasn’t worked out after a decade or so. To paraphrase Barney Frank’s cogent observation at the time of the ENDA debacle: women don’t want you to inflict your dicks on them. Crazy, huh guys?

Holden’s Buzzfeed piece exposes the breakdown of the alliance of the former Gay Rights Movement and the Transgender Penis Rights Movement and their frustration over their dual inability to coerce consent from unwilling women.

Tough break guys. Who could have seen it coming.

Well worth a read:

THIS,the absolute best summing up of the situation I have ever seen yet.Thank you.

I never thought Buzzfeed of all places would report on this. Women are rising up again and we’re not gonna take these men’s bullshit anymore! I believe more of our sisters are waking up.

Hopefully, more will wake up to the point where Michfest gets resurrected or something like it comes along.

And only one mention in the entire article that even hints at the fact that women are not as worried about transgender males attacking them in restrooms as we are about laws that allow ANY male to enter women’s spaces unchallenged. I can’t have any respect for transgender activists when they constantly pretend that it is “oh women are scared of M2Ts, they are just hysterical bigots” while they pretend male violence against women does not exist or they go the other way and claim that since men will always be attacking women, why shouldn’t we gals take a few more attacks for the sake of the men?

Hmm, every group and individual mentioned in that piece in fact supports trans access to facilities designated for the opposite sex. It’s just that they disagree over how to get there, and how to get other civil rights protections, such as protections for LGB and T in workplaces, housing, and other public accommodations (bakeries, etc.). So it doesn’t actually seem to be the case that any of these “leading” organizations are critical of trans ideology or transwomen’s demands for access to women’s spaces. The disagreement centers on tactics and strategy.

Women are massively waking up, across the board. Word has spread about Michigan and all the horror of how HRC, NCLR, The Task Force and other groups boycotted an event that centered born wimmin. Lesbians are reorganizing outside the oppressive woman hating LGBT system and putting money, talents and resources into sisterhood. Barney Frank said that we would have had ENDA passed if they’d just stuck to LG— that lesbians would have immediately benefited from job protection, something the white gay men who are all trans happy never seem to care about. This article was hysterical btw, thanks for the laughs and the info!

    • You are not kidding about trans-happy white dudes not caring about women’s job protections. Witness the fallout over HB2 in North Carolina, where EVERYONE is talking about the bathroom provision–which, btw, only applies to government buildings, and then only most of the time–and NO ONE is talking about the taking the teeth out of several labor protection laws.

  7. I love what you wrote, but I don’t see this in the Buzzfeed article? That article still refers to LGBT as if it’s still a legitimate umbrella entity (while being oddly focussed almost exclusively on trans people). I think it’s time for lesbians to separate, frankly.

  8. Thank you Thank this is so good. My lesbian friends had no paid attention to trans, but thanks to gallus and others over the past 5 years many have woken up. Straight friends so quick to say “no way penis is man”.

  9. Thank you Thank you! This is why we pay you the big bucks, huh?

May common sense prevail over these illiberal minds.

“So it doesn’t actually seem to be the case that any of these “leading” organizations are critical of trans ideology or transwomen’s demands for access to women’s spaces. The disagreement centers on tactics and strategy.”

I agree. I didn’t sense a genuine concern for women. This article sounds like gay men sitting around strategizing. Why waste time on frivolous things like the human rights of the female sex? That is, unless it impacts them. Gay men are going to wake up one day and realize that they will be marginalized and silenced just like the orchestrated and especially vicious trans silencing and bullying of lesbians, and any woman who doesn’t kowtow and bow to their demands. Trans and queer take no prisoners, and have so colonized LGBT organizations that they dominate and control every major LGBT organization. Gay men must know this, and still they are living in denial. It will only get worse as the backlash against this insanity strengthens and grows.

There is so much that this article leaves out. It only skims the surface. There are major three things that need to be emphasized. First, it’s not just conservatives. Read WOLF vs. US which was filed by a liberal women’s group. In reality, I firmly believe that the majority of women, even moderates and many liberals, don’t buy into the nonsense that women have a penis. Few women really believe it, but women are socially conditioned to remain silent. There is also a great deal of guilt tripping. Second, many, if not most, transgender identified people, especially MTFs are heterosexual not gay. In fact, almost all middle aged male transitioners are heterosexual. After they “transition”, FTMs start identifying as straight men. So, how is this a gay and lesbian issue? Third, the harm to women is not just about bathrooms. It involves locker rooms, showers, women’s homeless shelters, dorm rooms, women’s sports teams, etc.

As to the “T”, and what is actually happening, none of this is sustainable because something that is so fundamentally flawed at its core can’t last forever. There are several serious ethical issues. Gay men and lesbians could always say that our rights don’t come at the expense of others. We can no longer make this claim.

(1.) Sterilizing children is universally recognized as a human rights violation. It’s a fact that children are being sterilized with GnRH agonists and/or cross gender hormones. Disabled women with Down Syndrome, autism, and bipolar disorder have been “transitioned”. Isn’t it strange that the HRC (Human Rights Campaign) sees no ethical or moral problem with intentionally sterilizing physically healthy children.

At the same time children are being “transitioned” at younger and younger ages, transgender organizations are pushing through legislation that makes it possible for any adult male (many are heterosexual cross dressers) to claim gender identity without ever having taken hormones or undergoing surgery.
(2.) The human rights of 50% of the population are being ignored to pander to the interests of perhaps 1 to 2% of the population, and many of these males are heterosexual cross dressers. Females have a fundamental human right to privacy. Why should girls and women have to see some strange middle aged male’s penis in the women’s locker room? This is especially traumatic to females who have a history of PTSD from rape. There are far more women with PTSD from rape, childhood molestation, etc. than there are males claiming gender identity.
(3.) It’s a fact that males claiming gender identity have exposed themselves to girls. There are links on this and other blogs.
(4.) It’s a fact that cross dressing males and transgender identified males have been convicted of all sorts of crimes inside women’s restrooms, women’s locker rooms, and women’s homeless shelters. There are a ton of links and videos that are based on convictions.

I can say with all certainty that there will be more incidents of Colleen Francis and “her male genitalia” in the women’s locker room. More males who are far more sexual fetish than “gender dysphoria” such as Stefonknee Wolsch and Carlotta Sklodowska will slither out of their hiding places. A man’s sexual fetish is now a civil right as long as it’s tied some way to “gender identity”. People know it’s true. We aren’t blind, and conservatives cringe when they see Stefonknee. If a 50 year old divorced father of 7 kids identifies as a 6 year old girl, who are we to question his gender identity. The real harm is to women, and the danger is real. I can say with all certainty that there will be another Hambrook incident in a women’s homeless shelter. It’s just a matter of time. We only have a thousand years of history and crime statistics to show us that male violence is real. This slow train wreck will leave a lot of damage along its way.

It’s time to drop the “T”. Instead of sitting around strategizing, just drop the “T”. It can be done because it’s just going to get crazier.

Will they? Speaking as someone who’s not a member of the LGBT but who has known a lot of white, gay men as relatives, friends, and members of groups I’ve been part of, I can’t say I’ve found them to have much more empathy for women than the straight men in my circle. I don’t know how representative my sample is, but most of them also act just as entitled to women’s caretaking and emotional labor as straight men, which I’ve assumed comes from their privileged male childhood.

Straight women who call themselves transmen are not going to be as much of a threat to gay men as autogynephiles are to lesbian communities, since they don’t have the same physical or societal power and most lack the early training in entitlement. There’s a good chance that white, gay, middle-class men will be largely unaffected by these issues, and that may be the assumption behind their actions–or lack thereof.

  12. eticapatetica Says:

Hay, I have mixed feelings about this, would you chums help me a bit please? :S

So… I had to change myself in front of both women and men in a mixed locker room once… the feeling was the same I had when I did so just in front of men in a men’s locker room: usually I prefer getting naked when I’m alone if it’s not intended to be shared as a sexually related act; still, after years of doing it anyway because many locker rooms of the places I go to haven’t got private boxes, I’m able to do it anyway in front of anybody.

I believe women and men have the right and duty to use different locker rooms, since so many human beings have troubles managing their arousal, even if I believe we should strive to get to a point where sexual crimes will no longer be a thing and gender restricted areas will be useless.

Anyway… if it’s so dangerous for a human being with the body of a woman to expose its private parts not just to anybody who potentially might have a sexual attraction for that body, but specifically to men attracted to women bodies then, when should, if ever, a man with the body of a woman be allowed to benefit from a different-than-at-birth gender restricted area?

Is there any rule for this? I will read the linked article too and try to understand the reasons of the other side, it’s a quite controversial campaign…

    • People, as biological beings that reproduce sexually and particularly as a species which is visually oriented, are always going to have issues being fully naked around folks of the opposite sex, especially if they’re heterosexual, which most of the human population at least believes it is. There isn’t any burning need to change this. The problem isn’t with the sex segregation. The problem is with creepy people, mostly creepy dudes, who either don’t understand or don’t care about boundaries and routinely do not respect those. The answer is not to make the boundaries more porous but to react with extreme prejudice when men violate those boundaries rather than tsk-tsking and boys-will-be-boys-ing and pretending nothing happened.

FFS, even so-called “primitive” indigenous tribal cultures around the world where people go mostly naked because they live in a tropical environment have got pretty strict modesty standards. No one needs to go around in hijab and abaya (or burka if you like, though there’s a difference) but I am trying to convey that probably *nowhere* in the world do people just do whatever they want with whatever degree of coverage they want at all times. Except in nudist colonies, and guess what happens in nudist colonies. They are excellent source material for clandestine photographs that later become child pornography, that’s what happens in nudist colonies. So again… enforce the boundaries. Quit trying to knock them over.

“a man with the body of a woman”

      There is no such thing.

  13. In fact, Barney Frank lately said he didn’t know why there was all this fuss about men and women using the same bathrooms. He said that growing up in his house mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers all used the same bathroom and no one was uncomfortable with it. Well, one might say he has a point, but on further thought, in his house everyone knew each other – all were family – this was not the public at large tramping in and out of his home, using his bathroom. So how would he like the general public barging into his bathroom, pulling up the lid and taking a leak? I think he’d freak out, even though, unlike women he wouldn’t necessarily have to be worrying about sexual abuse, voyeurism and the like. Barney Frank still garners a lot of respect and power, even out of office, so it’s a shame that he shows his contempt for women’s safety and women’s interests in this way.

    • Marm Says:

Also – in Barney Frank’s house I’ll bet they were single use bathrooms – not a public bathroom with stalls that don’t go all the way to the floor or ceiling. And B. Frank probably didn’t grow up with an intrusive peeping tom male relative who hid spy cams, stole his underwear, made inappropriate comments or assaulted him.

Yet many girls/women contend with these horrors in their own home.

    • Mon Says:

      Also:
He said, “growing up in his house mothers, fathers, sister, brothers all used the same bathroom and no one was uncomfortable with it.” It’s a sure bet they didn’t shower with each other.

    • Nina Says:

Yeah, I literally don’t care about what men have to say on gender issues if all they have to offer is their personal feelz. “As a man, I’m personally not uncomfortable with it, so women are irrational to feel uncomfortable with it” is too ignorant a statement to take seriously in a society where men and women still have widely different life experiences and concerns. The personal feelz of a particular man are completely irrelevant to how women as a group do or should feel about a certain issue.

  14. Nina Says:

    From the Buzzfeed article:

“It’s about whether queer people can participate in public life,” said Tiven, whose group also receives funding from the Gill Foundation but disagrees on this issue. “Can we go out in public at all? Can we go to the movie theater? Can we go to the shopping mall? Because our opponents would like to make anyone who is too queer or gender nonconforming uncomfortable — they would like us to just stay home.”

Like, are you fucking kidding me?? Can the trans activists go two minutes without coopting language from another oppressed group? This is literally a misappropriated argument that has already been made, over and over, for why MTFs should NOT be allowed in bathrooms. Women fought for sex-segregated spaces for our own safety. Before sex-segregated spaces, women in Victorian society could not fully participate in public life. We fought tooth and nail for these spaces so WE wouldn’t have to stay home!

Now, instead of fighting for their own bathrooms and segregated spaces, they want to force us to desegregate. To make us unsafe again, to push women back into the home and out of public life. I don’t know anyone who is against the compromise of having single-stall unisex facilities, either instead of or in addition to sexed facilities. That would allow everyone to participate. The issue is whether any male person who claims to “identify” as a woman should be allowed to enter women’s private spaces. Such a proposition is obviously dangerous to women.

Even if you believe that MTFs are no more dangerous than women (statistically untrue), legislation based solely on “identity” makes it impossible for anyone to differentiate a “real” MTF from a fake one. There will be no legal basis for someone to eject an obviously-predatory “cis” male from female spaces. In fact, anyone trying to do so under identity-based legislation will simply be opening themselves up to lawsuits, criminal punishment, and social suicide. “Gender identity” is an unfalsifiable concept that can change from day to day and moment to moment, doesn’t require any medical intervention, and doesn’t even require a change in “gender expression”. The only difference between a “cis” male and an MTF is a nebulous, unmeasurable “feeling” that can change at any time. Can you prove in a court of law that Donald Trump isn’t a genderfluid person who was simply in “girl mode” when he walked in on those pageant contestants? Not if your legislation is based purely on “gender identity”.

IT IS COMPLETELY POSSIBLE TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE IN A WAY THAT KEEPS BOTH WOMEN AND TRANS PEOPLE SAFE. It is completely possible for both groups to be participating safely in public life. The fact that trans activists refuse to acknowledge our concerns and deal with them maturely only proves to me that they care more about their own gratification than they do women’s safety. They are misogynists.

  15. Siobhan Says:

A recent article by Alexandra Brodsky in the New York Times claimed that a conservative organization was using girls as “props” against transgender rights. The article is trash, but the comments are fascinating. The “NYT picks” are mostly falling over themselves in support of the author. The “Readers’ Picks” (still a very highly educated audience) are overwhelmingly in favor of allowing sex segregation (as in, actual sex) in bathrooms, locker rooms, etc. The dichotomy is fascinating.

    • Branjor Says:

using girls as “props” against transgender rights

Translation: Don’t talk about the rights of girls.

      • Carla Says:

Right. It’s the girls themselves who are kicking off the complaint process in most of these cases. Are they using themselves as props by doing so? And of course, forcing them to share a locker room with male people in order to validate the male person’s feelings is not using girls as a prop at all. How Orwellian.

    • NYCAlison Says:

Here’s a link to the article, which I encourage you all to read, particularly for the comments: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/27/opinion/dont-use-girls-as-props-to-fight-trans-rights.html?_r=0

The reporter lies throughout and does so shamelessly, particularly about the case we discussed on here several weeks back in Minnesota, where an entire class of high-school girls (or was it a sports team? Regardless, they were teenage girls) was held hostage across several locker rooms so the wishes of an AGP MtT could be acquiesced to.

I’m particularly repulsed by the reporter characterizing this teenage MtT as a “poor, innocent trans-girl” and his opponents as bigots. Thankfully, women and men in the comments refused to let that lie stand. They made it clear that the “poor, innocent victim” was given accommodations and that was not enough, that he followed the girls who wished to be away from him to other locker rooms, and that he forced himself on them, demanding they look at his genitals in underwear, demanding they allow him to “twerk” and grind on them, and demanding they engage in conversation with him about their bodies.

Indeed, Siobhan, the dichotomy in the comments is fascinating — and telling. The 4 or 5 commenters who swallow the reporter’s pap hook, line, and sinker are vastly outnumbered by commenters who know the truth, and aren’t afraid to say it, and the number of “likes” each comment got is vastly skewed toward the commenters who aren’t buying the fairy tale about the poor, bullied victim of “transphobia” who just “wants to change in peace.” AGP trans are coming out younger and younger and, through the online support groups, are being encouraged by the middle-aged Conservative White male bullies at the top of this trash heap to take pride in abusing women and girls while demanding “muh rights!”
