Pink News CEO Benjamin Cohen [ITV News]

Benjamin Cohen, CEO of Pink News, announced on Twitter that he believes any transwomen who has visible facial hair – even those who are legally “female”- should be charged and prosecuted as sex offenders if they use female change rooms.

The surprise announcement took place in an exchange with NewStatesman editor Helen Lewis, in response to her op-ed in The Times titled “A Man Can’t Just Say He Has Turned Into A Woman”. Lewis wrote the piece addressing the feminist backlash against UK’s proposed “self identification” Gender Identity process, which would allow any man at the stroke of a pen to be legally regarded as “female” to access women’s change rooms, scholarships, hospital wards, sports competitions, abuse shelters, jail cells, etc.

Benjamin Cohen, a gay anti-feminist activist who has used his platform to lobby against the rights of lesbians to hold female-only events on the grounds that they discriminate against the sexual rights of heterosexual males, initiated the exchange after publishing the following article on his Pink News site:

Cohen then tweeted at Helen Lewis from his @benjamincohen account, asking “Why do people like @helenlewis always turn trans rights into “someone with a beard exposing their penis in the women’s changing room?” He included a screen cap with the following quote from her article:

“What the government proposes is a radical rewriting of our understanding of identity: now it’s a question of an internal essence- a soul, if you will. Being a woman or a man is now entirely in your head. In this climate, who would challenge someone with a beard exposing their penis in a women’s changing room?

That’s why feminists have raised the alarm over the move to self-identification, along with some older trans people who fear that “trendsters” will erode the goodwill they have worked hard to aquire.”

Helen Lewis responded, “Hi Ben, as a man I don’t expect you to get how much women value single-sex spaces for safety reasons. But I would expect you to listen.”

The Twitter exchange

Benjamin Cohen responded in no uncertain terms: he believes transwomen with visible facial hair should be prosecuted as sex offenders. He stated: “Your example” [of a male with facial hair disrobing in women’s change rooms] would still be indecent exposure, so why link it to trans rights?”

Legally female transwomen like prominent trans rights activists Danielle Muscato and Alex Drummond stand to be prosecuted for indecent exposure under Pink News CEO Benjamin Cohen’s views.

Danielle Muscato, legally “female” male who identifies as a transwoman.

Alex Drummond, legally “female” male who identifies as a transwoman.

People hit back after Cohen’s statement.

No Gender Identity protections for female transgender Connor MacCallister

No Gender Identity protections for female transgender Connor MacCalister

A hunger strike was started by ten transgender activists calling themselves “No Pride In Prison” demanding that a male convicted of a violent crime in New Zealand who says he “identifies as female” be transferred to housing among confined females. The man, Jade Follett, was convicted for stabbing another man in the back three times as the victim tried to run away. The two had met via social networking for a sexual encounter. Follett was offered home detention and anger management training for his 21 month sentence but declined it, opting instead for voluntary incarceration.

Calls were issued for volunteers who would sit with and administer juices and teas to the “Transwomen” who pledged to die of starvation so the voluntarily confined individual could achieve his goal of placement among women confined involuntarily by the state. This action was informed by New Zealand’s adoption of “Gender identity” laws that eliminate the basic human rights of women prisoners to be confined separate from males in favor of the self-reported “gender feelings” of any male who claims they have female brains in their male bodies.

No hunger protest took place to demand Conner MacCalister be placed in male prison in accordance with her long term identity as a man. No transgender activists have protested her “misgendering” as female after a decade of testosterone medical treatment. No transgender legal advocacy organizations have demanded her identity as a man be respected in her prison placement. Her gender identity rights have not been affirmed by transgender advocates. No hunger strike has been announced for the identity rights of Conner MacCalister to be affirmed by placement in the male facility she identifies with. This is because Gender Identity rights apply solely to males. No female benefits from “Gender Identity” rights, ever, including females who identify as male and are “post-transition”.

* The hunger strike for the male inmate was halted after 5 hours when prison authorities agreed to house the violent male inmate among the state confined female population in deference to his belief that he is female-brained. Reports say dinner was early for the hunger strikers, but celebratory.

surgery

Less than 50 physicians worldwide are willing to provide transgender surgical “sex reassignment” or “sex change” procedures, and as the few existing practitioners retire, no one is replacing them.  Modern cosmetic and reconstructive surgeons at large are opting not to do these procedures, even when they are state mandated and funded.

Now, insurers are struggling to fulfill state mandates covering transgender surgical procedures for men that are excluded for women based on sex discrimination. Transgender state medical mandates pushed by lobbyists insist that procedures such as breast implants and “face lifts” are medically necessary for men who wish to look more like women, while denying coverage for those same procedures to actual women. Transgender advocates have successfully lobbied for such government provided “care” on the grounds that without such procedures men may become depressed or abuse alcohol or other substances, and that such men have a state-protected right to avoid being mocked or socially ostracized for their appearance. Males must declare a “transgender identity” to receive coverage.

From the Boston Herald:

Insurers unsure on transgender care

Meanwhile patients unable to find docs for procedures

Thursday, October 30, 2014

Marie Szaniszlo

Four months after the state Division of Insurance put health plans on notice that denying medically necessary treatment to transgender people is prohibited sex discrimination, insurers are still grappling with what constitutes medical necessity, and patients are struggling to find doctors who’ll treat them.

In a state world-renowned for its medical talent, no Massachusetts physician performs genital gender reassignment surgery, said Elizabeth M. Murphy of the Massachusetts Association of Health Plans.

“We were concerned people were having to go all over the country for this surgery,” Dr. Joel Rubenstein of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care said yesterday at a Division of Insurance informational session. “We’re hopeful somebody would step up to put together the surgical piece so it could all be in one place.”

Under state law, health plans are required to develop evidence-based medical necessity guidelines for such procedures.

“We are determined to … not exclude treatment for this condition,” Rubenstein said.

On the other hand, he said, Harvard Pilgrim does not want to approve procedures such as facial feminization for transgender people if those procedures would be considered merely cosmetic for other people.

“If we cover them for transgender patients, we would be being reverse-discriminatory,” said Dr. Robert Nierman, medical director at Tufts Health Plan.

But Ruben Hopwood of Fenway Health said facial feminization is not about wanting a “cuter nose.” A transgender person’s appearance is more likely to be the difference between getting a job or not getting one, and walking down the street unafraid or being attacked, Hopwood said.

Getting the proper treatment also can save money that might otherwise be spent on treatment for alcohol or substance abuse or depression, said Pam Klein, a nurse at Boston Health Care for the Homeless.

[bolding by me-GM]

Look at this prick. When you hear about the “transwomen” demanding entry into women’s colleges, this is what they are talking about:

Is this man female?

Is this man female?

It’s the “Transgender Tipping Point”, described by transgenderist Jennifer Finney Boylan in his LATimes Op-Ed as:

“…what seems to be the Year of the Trans, a season of great progress in the movement for transgender equality. And yet commentators, both liberal and conservative, continue to struggle with the right words to describe the transgender experience.”

Boylan, a member of the all-male, all-white, all-heterosexual, all-middle-aged transgender leadership that recently took over the formerly gay lobbying group GLAAD, attempts to analyze this roadblock by drawing a comparison with the trajectory of the Gay Rights movement. As a disinterested bystander to the lesbian and gay movement (and quite a homophobic one at that), Boylan lacks insight into the decades of activism that preceded his arrival on the “LGBT” scene (to beg for scraps from bloated and obsolete gay orgs- the rudderless victims of their own success).

“What the trans community needs is its own discourse-changing idiom, in the same way that gay men and women found their lives transformed when the conversation changed from sex to love,” he states.

Boylan suggests that “Gay Marriage” worked as a memetic slight of hand, distracting the straights from all that formerly untoward dick-in-ass activity. He proposes that the transgenderist platform search for a similar, magical linguistic transmogrification- a magic bullet that causes the public at large to buy what his movement is selling. He fails to ascertain that the gay movement ultimately succeeded by clearly outlining the concrete ways in which discrimination resulted in unfairness and inequality: legally, financially, and practically. The gay movement never tried to insist the public applaud guys blowing each other. Indeed, many of those who now support equal rights for gays remain openly repulsed by homosexuality on a personal level, or a religious one. Like the transgender movement, the gay movement was/is a men’s sexual rights movement, ascending concurrent with the age of pornography. This is an era in which the powers that be (men) have no political will to cockblock another man’s hard-on under any circumstance.

“I’d suggest we use the term “equality of identity” going forward.” Boylan weakly suggests. “At its heart, the quest that trans people are on is to have the same thing that straight — and gay — people have: the ability to wake up in the morning and be ourselves, without permission, without apology. Our lives should not be defined by wigs, or surgery, or which bathroom we use. Our lives should be defined by our identities, and the truth we bear in our hearts.”

But that isn’t what the transgender movement is fighting for. Ultimately, no one cares what transgenderists do when they wake up in the morning, or how they conceive of themselves, their taste in wigs, or what they believe “in their hearts”. If that was what the transgender movement was fighting for it would be hitting no roadblock.

Taken over but it's still not working

Taken over but it’s still not working

Rather, the transgender movement is demanding that we all pretend to agree with their personal, internal, subjective sex-role ideas. Which no one does. And they never will. Hell, even transgenderists don’t believe the shit they’re demanding we pretend to agree with. There are no magic words to be wielded Harry Potter-like by genderists that will cause the muggles to believe… well, that husband and father Jennifer Flynn Boylan is actually a woman, for example. Or that the five year old boy with a penchant for forbidden “pretty princess” swag is actually female, to be recognized via pre-pubertal sterilization and lifetime cross-sex hormones. It’s simply never going to happen. Instead of coming to terms with this, the solution of male activists like Boylan is to “double-down” on the same unrealistic, unreachable goals, using the exact same tactics.

Lees: Insulting his audience with Magical Thinking

Lees: Insulting his audience with Magical Thinking

“Gender can’t be Bent: Kellie Maloney Has Always Been Female” declares Transactivist Paris Lees, dubiously, in the Independent.

No one actually believes that aging boxing promoter and father of three Frank Maloney -having been “outed” to tabloids by a fellow member of his crossdresser support group- is now or has ever been female. Even Frank doesn’t believe it. If he actually believed that both he and his wife are female, would he announce that “I still don’t think that children should be brought up in same-sex marriages.’’ One thinks not.

“When you refer to Kellie Maloney with male pronouns, you’re telling me something about yourself and how you view people who change their gender,” Lees chides.

That’s right, Paris. What we’re telling you is that we view you as what you truly are: Transgender. As in: people that would like to occupy a sex-role normally imposed on the opposite sex, for your own enjoyment. Confirmed in the same text here:

“I can tell you what it felt like before I was able to express myself the way that makes me feel happiest.”

And what makes Paris feel happiest is expressing himself “as a woman” by trolling alleys and public parks for lots of sex with other men, and inviting random dudes to grope his moobs on public transport while telling him how pretty he is. Paris Lees doesn’t actually believe that he or Frank are female, and he knows you also don’t. He doesn’t really want you to (what would be special about THAT?) or expect you to. He just wants you to pretend that you do. Just use the pretty words. The magic words:

“Just refer to her as “she”. I’ve done it in this article. It’s not hard.”

Activists of the Boylan and Lees school simply double-down on the magical thinking even as they are mystified, (simply mystified!) why the decades-long tactics of the transgender movement stall the closer they get to the mainstream. Their male brethren continue the “activism” of demanding that lesbians accept the penis as a female organ, and harass and threaten feminists whom they claim diminish their rights as men.

Meanwhile, some other transgender activists are tired of banging that same old broken drum and waiting for the magic to happen. Let’s call this the dawn of Neo Transactivism.
