A public debate was scheduled in London between feminists and transgender activists over the conflict of interest between women’s rights and the transgender movement, specifically the impact of proposed changes to the UK Gender Recognition Act. The event was titled ‘What is Gender? The Gender Recognition Act and Beyond’.

At debate is the proposal to eliminate the legal classification of women as ‘adult female human beings’ to be replaced with ‘Gender Identity’, an undefined and subjective feeling with no stated characteristics that is unrelated to biological sex. This would allow males who declare this personal feeling to opt into female areas of public life set aside to promote equality for women and protection from male violence (female prisons, female change rooms, female scholarships, etc.). Transgender activists seek the elimination of women as a legal class on the premise that doing so would improve the mental health of a small minority of males who believe biological sex does not exist.

The debate was scheduled for Wednesday September 13 at London’s New Cross Learning Center. Speakers were:

Bex Stinson, transgender liaison at StonewallUK,

a second representative of StonewallUK,

lesbian feminist Julia Long,

and gender critical transsexual Miranda Yardley.

On September 11, following complaints from trans activists, Bex Stinson pulled out of the engagement, citing personal reasons for being unable to meet his professional commitments. The other StonewallUK representative followed suit.

The event was to go forward with featured speakers Dr. Julia Long and Miranda Yardley.

Event Flyer

Following the abandonment of the discussion by StonewallUK, transgender activists complained that their point of view was unrepresented because they refused to participate and the remaining transsexual speaker (Miranda Yardley) did not support eliminating women’s rights under the Gender Recognition Act. Working under the belief that women have no right to discuss proposed changes to the legal status of women, they organized to prevent women from meeting or speaking about their legal status.

Their tactics included, among other things, disrupting the meeting with noise:

Goldsmith’s Emergency: ‘Disrupt and Drown Out’ the discussion of women’s legal status

And attempting to No-Platform by harassing the venue:

Activists directed to harass the venue

On September 12, the event venue, New Cross Community Library, no-platformed the discussion, citing safety concerns:

In 2017, in London, it is not safe for women to discuss the legal status of women.

As a result of the last minute no-platforming by the NewCross Community Library, the event was diverted to an undisclosed location with a public meet-up to be held, ironically, at Speakers Corner in Hyde Park.

Transgender activists responded by trying to locate the new venue so the conversation could be prevented:

Stalkers stalk

On the date of the discussion, September 13, the group ‘Action For Trans Health London’ issued the following:

Urgent call to suppress women’s speech

Text of their post (now deleted):

CW, TW: transmisogny, transphobia.

PLEASE be mindful of people’s capacity and experiences before inviting people to this event. This event has been circulated widely particularly amongst the trans community, but please don’t expect people of trans experience to be able to engage directly with those who target, vilify and abuse them. The two speakers have a history of launching absolutely unwarranted campaigns of violent harrassment against women of trans experience and therefore allies and those who don’t experience transmisogny are primarily who should be called upon to defend against TERFs. Bear this in mind before you ‘invite all’ – thank you.

It has come to our attention that a NEW VENUE is platforming transmisogynists and TERFs at an event TODAY(Wednesday 13th September 7-9pm) , claiming to ‘debate’ the Gender Recognition Act.

Scheduled to speak are a notoriously transmisogynistic ‘feminist’ author, Julia Long, and a ‘gender critical’ trans woman, Miranda Yardley, both of whom regularly propagate deeply hateful views, misgendering, vilifying and targeting women of trans experience and trans feminine people. Representatives from Stonewall have (understandably) pulled out, making the event nothing more than a platform for hate speech.

Transmisogny can never be legitamised or tolerated as ‘debate’,

This is violence. We know that when Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminists (TERFs) speak, they enact, encourage and condone violence against women of trans experience, transfeminine people and those who experience transmisogny.

One trans woman does not speak for all people of trans experience, particularly when she does not experience the extreme risks of violence faced by trans people of colour.

We know TERFSs are not and will never be interested in being challenged via ‘debate’. We are not interested in engaging with them on those terms.

*** A4TH London cannot guarantee the number of people who will be in attendance to protest or disrupt this event, but we encourage you to use this space to organise with other people of trans experience and cis allies**

FIND OUT WHERE IT IS

————————SHARE THIS EVENT WIDELY—————————

Don’t just click ‘attending’, start a Whatsapp group, a message thread – tell your friends, activist networks, make an action plan, share templates for emails or tweets or phone conversations. Post on their FB page // drawing attention to the event (FB Event page now deleted) and stating your opposition.

IMPORTANT: the organiser of the event has no interest in cancelling or engaging (of course) so the most we can do is be a nuisance.

———————————FLOOD THEIR INBOX—————————-

USE EVERY EMAIL ADDRESS YOU HAVE asking them to:

– Cancel the event, considering it can no longer even claim to be a ‘debate’ now that there is no ‘opposition’.

– BUT *please don’t forget* to highlight that there is NO DEBATE when it comes to the lives and experiences of the trans community – questioning and theorising over the validity or reality of lived experience IS VIOLENCE, is TRANSPHOBIA and is not acceptable.

– Encourage them to make a public statement apologising for hosting the event and claiming responsibility for platforming transmisogny and hate.

——————–ON THE DAY,
JOIN US OUTSIDE from 6:30pm ————-

It is a high unlikely that this event will be cancelled. The organiser has made that clear.
We must be there to expose the reality of the event inside.

We must be there in solidarity, rage and love for those who the event seeks to villify, oppress and injure.

Bring placards, banners, music, people!

We need to drown out the TERFS.
We need to let the local community to know what is going on inside.
We need to PROVE that our communities (LGBTQIA+, queer, anti-racist, antifascist) are vigilant in standing up for and in solidarity with those who experience the most violence and that it will not be tolerated here or anywhere.

We highly encourage self-organising and diversity of tactics.

We need as many allies there as possible – cis, queer, trans people who don’t experience transmisogny need to far outnumber those who do to ensure their safety.

– Anyone have any good anti-TERF chants?-

On the ‘Action For Trans Health London’ post, a man calling himself ‘Tara Flik Wood” posted his intent to attack women who are concerned with the legal status of women:

As you can see, their intent was “loved” by the organizers.

This transgender individual, along with other men, went on to assault a 60 year old grandmother in Hyde Park as seen here:

https://gendertrender.wordpress.com/2017/09/14/this-is-trans-terrorism-this-is-male-violence/

Trans activists also assaulted transsexual Miranda Yardley and grabbed his phone which was later recovered.

On September 14, transgender activists scrambled to defend the attack and prevent LGBT organizations from denouncing the violence:

wow. Stopping trans orgs from condemning violence against women.

‘Action For Trans Health” Edinburgh issued a statement supporting the attack:

Unbelievably psychotic violent men who identify as transwomen.

As you can see, ‘Action For Trans Health’ London “loved” their post.

No LGBT organizations have condemned the attack.

No LGBT organizations have issued a comment- including StonewallUK.

No LGBT news outlets have reported on the scheduled event, the no-platforming, the violent attacks, the terroristic suppression of women’s speech on the legal status of women.

This is the bloody violent graphic used by Natalie Reed and Larkin Forestheart to advertise their original protest at the Vancouver Public Library

So, women have been asking for a follow-up post to THIS ONE which outlined transgender community plans to protest and disrupt a Day of Remembrance of the women maimed and murdered at L’Ecole Polytechnique by a homicidal man who believed feminism was discriminating against him. I was a bit delayed in composing a follow-up post due to mundane work and life demands, then I decided I may as well wait until the video of the flash mob protest was posted.

You will recall trans activist demands that the public library censor feminist women’s speech around issues of concern to women, namely countering male violence and sexual exploitation of women.

You’ll recall Natalie Reed’s plan to stand outside the November 30 memorial shouting through a megaphone along with a group of his fellows, who would “round up better attendance” than the memorial itself.

Then, Vancouver’s Trans Alliance Society, among others, decided to “FlashMob” the solemn memorial for murdered women, a plan spearheaded by Ronan Oger- now calling himself “Morgane”- a middle-aged married heterosexual and the father of small children who works (like many male transgenders) as an IT professional. Mr Oger began “living as a woman” in September, when he took his first estrogen pill.

Ronan/Morgane Oger- "became a woman" on September 10.

Oger, who “began living as a woman” on September 10, 2013.

Transgenders met in private and public on Facebook groups and elsewhere, venting their rage at women holding a feminist event which did not center male issues- and which dared to allow Janice Raymond, who scathingly critiqued the medical “sex-change industry” thirty years ago, to speak on unrelated issues, namely countering male violence and sexual exploitation of women.

Come to find out (!) a lot of people were completely appalled at this transgender anti-feminist activism, so insensitively targeting a memorial event. Lets just say it was a “peak trans” moment for many: that moment when all the heartfelt transgender testimonials and political rhetoric falls away and a stark light shines on the blatant woman-hatred at the heart of the transgender movement. Some transgender activists themselves were horrified at the violent rhetoric and misogyny being expressed by other men. “I hope for all our sakes that the predictions of the groups that were part of the Friday meeting do not come true.” Morgane Oger tweeted. Natalie Reed and Larkin Forestheart abandoned their organized protest, disowning themselves from it, and Reed denounced Oger’s flashmob plans. “I started getting angry messages from trans-feminists around the world about how I was “The Organizer..” a panicked Reed tweeted at Oger.

Alarmed, Oger changed the date of his flashmob to December 5 so as to avoid the public spectacle of his angry male brethren accosting and terrifying women at an event commemorating the actions of an angry violent male terrorist acting on the belief that feminists oppress males.

So what became of the protest(s)? Long story short- the memorial event went off swimmingly with none of the threatened disruptions. About six dudes stood outside with placards whose messaging was unintelligible to the women attending. One of the transwomen- with full beard- carried a sign which said “I am my brain not my genitals” (lol WTF?). At the start of Raymond’s talk one of the men attempted to storm the venue (probably Oger who claims he forced women at the event to speak with him). As individuals were prohibited from entering sessions that were already in process he was cockblocked by a door monitor. One male attendee tweeted back and forth with Natalie Reed during the event. During the question and answer period he rambled on and took up all the time that had been set aside for women to speak. He then uploaded a long long youtube video from his cell phone reflecting cluelessly on his actions which he described as a “dramatic moment” of the event (because attention was centered on him). His actions highlighted the need for women to have women-only space to organize away from male attention-seeking and entitlement. His time-sucking rambling did not mention genderism, which was not discussed at the memorial.

These dudely goings-on were less than a footnote to a successful standing-room-only feminist event featuring presentations and discussions among women on the topic of countering male violence and sexualization of women. Listen to Janice Raymond’s talk at the event here:

It is time to reflect on the attempts by male activists of the transgender variety to silence, disrupt, and prevent feminist and women-only organizing.

The last two years have seen multiple major Radical Feminist conferences in Australia, UK, Canada, and the US. Each has been met with the same violent rhetoric and threats by transwomen, including bomb threats. Transwomen have submitted comments to my blog containing nothing but the names of feminist’s children and the addresses of the elementary schools their children attend. This is the stuff of nightmares. This is terrorism. Yet every one of these events have gone off swimmingly. All the violent bluster, the threats from transwomen and other MRAs, all the terrorism, has not prevented these feminist conferences from occurring. Maybe it is time for men like Ronan Oger to focus on their own events and conferences. The only transgender events that are well attended are those sponsored by drug companies, and all of these events have sex-segregated conferences, and all of these events sponsor public discussions of gender.

Women and our allies, your voices are making a difference. Every time you take a moment to counteract this terrorism it has an effect. Because: you are not alone. When you take the time to comment on a news article. When you write your own article! When you contact your representative about a piece of legislation. When you organize. When you attend. When you donate. When you speak up. Every single time you see feminists under attack for meeting and speaking make sure you take action. It really is making a difference. Congratulate yourself! Keep it up!

Ohhhhh, right right, the great transgender flashmob of 2013. I almost forgot. Here it is. Enjoy.

Violent, Bizarre, Bloody illustration from Kelley Ann Busey's Planetransgender post "Cathey Brennan UN letter: Toxic Transphobia Death" (sic)

I was looking at Fab’s post about the Trans Panther Party’s terrorist activities and threats against myself and the women who sent a feminist legal submission to the UN . Reflecting on all the violent rhetoric and genuine threats that have come about and been directed toward the Lesbian authors of that UN submission (some of which I’ve documented on this blog), I thought back to where it all started.

I really think Bilerico and Pam’s House Blend need to be blamed for creating and stoking this campaign of disinformation, harassment, and stalking of Lesbian activists Cathy Brennan and Elizabeth Hungerford. Bilerico and PHB were the first LGBT media outlets to respond to the UN legal submission.

To anyone who hasn’t been following this:  the UN submission suggested that in matters of litigation involving males in female sex-segregated spaces, non-transgender males should not be able to claim “gender identity”, if they have no prior history of transgenderism. That’s it. Non-transgender males would be prevented from falsely claiming transgenderism to gain access to female sex-segregated spaces. Not unlike the caveat in the CT Gender Identity protections law which was passed this year and heralded as a success by the trans community. Nothing to do with surgical requirements, or any restriction whatsoever on transgender people. There’s nothing even vaguely anti-trans about the UN submission. It’s a pro- women’s rights submission. Not an anti-trans one. One could even say it was a pro-trans submission, as it proposed codifying the rights of transgender males to enter female spaces.

What freaked out the genderists is that two feminist attorneys drafted a letter to the UN that addressed “gender” in any way. That they spoke of that which must never be mentioned by women: Gender. Women who do speak of Gender must be attacked and silenced immediately. Which is what Bilerico and Pam’s House Blend did.

Bilerico and Pam’s House Blend, both mainstream LGBT sites, were the first to fire shots. Bilerico ran a hideously inflammatory and inaccurate post titled “Less Than Woman, Less Than Human“, which actually raised the topic of violent retaliation against Brennan and Hungerford. The Bilerico post falsely claimed that the UN letter sought to deny basic human rights to trans people. It claimed the letter sought to discriminate against trans people in employment and housing (which couldn’t be further from the truth). Then the post uncritically, and bizarrely went off to conflate the UN submission with Radical Feminism, solely because the post author apparently first saw the letter’s text on a Radical Feminist site.(Cathy Brennan has never been a Radical Feminist and has in fact spent considerable unpaid time advocating for the rights of transgender people.)

This was followed by descriptions of attacks and hate crimes against transgender people, claiming the UN submission would increase such attacks. It was the worst sort of “reporting”: inaccurate, inflammatory, and unrelentingly addled. The author Mercedes Allen never did post a retraction. Fellow Bilerico blogger Jillian Weiss later posted an appeal to decency to the violent rhetoric that followed, but Weiss never mentioned the original post that started it all: the Bilerico post. As an attorney Weiss was uniquely positioned to refute the disinformation. But apparently chose not to.

Pam’s House Blend published their version the next day, the disgustingly titled “Cathy Brennan and Elizabeth Hungerford Take Their Anti-Trans Hysteria to the UN”.

This post was bursting with the same outrageous level of untruth, hyperbole, disinformation and downright lies. The author Laurel Ramseyer claimed “… it would presumably allow any women in or near a public bathroom to become “panty police” and make a “show me your papers” demand of any other woman entering the bathroom.” – which is absurd since the UN submission only deals with civil litigation matters. It was another mainstream LGBT post filled with hateful anti-feminist rhetoric and pure shit-stirring fabrication. Not only was there no published retraction- but soon after Cathy posted a link on her long-term Pam’s profile to the blog set up to refute the disinformation  (http://sexnotgender.wordpress.com/) Pam Spaulding BANNED her, and deleted her account.

There will always be crazy-ass losers and unstable fringe activists that lack the social and intellectual skills required to discern nuance or legal complexity. OR EVEN REALITY. Violent bullies like Anthony Casebeer and weekend terrorist paramilitary warriors the Caucasian Trans Panther Party, cognitively impaired Kelly Anne Busey of Planetransgender, violence obsessed Marti Abernathey at Transadvocate and the disturbed Katrina Rose at Endablog have never read (or never comprehended) the Brennan Hungerford UN submission. But they damn sure read the mainstream posts from the “authorities” at Bilerico and Pam’s House Blend.
